(6,604 posts)because I'm so fucking tired of the "prove my imaginary friend doesn't exist" argument.
All excellent candidates, though!

(18,219 posts)I went with Exemptions after much thought, because that is probably the one thing that sticks in my craw the most these days.

(12,799 posts)MT [Mother Teresa] was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty. She said that suffering was a gift from God. She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction.
― Christopher Hitchens
When it comes to Hitchens, I find that I agree with him more often than not.

(7,321 posts)invasion that was contemptible and poisoned all good will I may have had for him.

(27,985 posts)He could be a bit misogynistic at times. There was the Iraq war thing. But, on his area of expertise - religion: 99% agreement.

Can we remove the tax exemptions from churches that push politics? Don't we already have a law for that?

(7,321 posts)But I'm not absolutely certain of it, hence my use of the term "rarely". just in case I missed the facts on that report in terms of the end results.
There was "uproar" that sort of hit the media for a second and that was the last I heard of it.

(9,356 posts)Er...mouth. The IRS. Note that once a church gets the magical 501 exemption, it doesn't even have to report its income.
That was so surprising to me, I once called the IRS just to verify it. The person I talked to said, yes, that was the case. And also asked me: "Would you bother filing a tax return if you didn't have to? Well, churches don't have to."
This link goes to the list of organizations that don't have to file with the IRS. And that link leads to other info on how you and Jesus can avoid paying taxes:

Here's an interesting 2012 article from those raving atheist-socialist loons at FORBES magazine:
If 47% Don't Pay Taxes, Let's Tax Churches
