I usually pay $3 or so for such a video or find it on Netflix and put it on my TV machine, where I only get what can come to me from the internet, or from my local video store, or from a game machine I hook up there.

I wish there were 100 films I could see like this one. It is, after all, a documentary, a real life video, not a screen play, nor a film showing in theaters anymore.

I'd like to see Michael Moore's films available on Youtube. I think thousands of people who never would go see stuff like this in a theater and pay $10 for seeing it would watch this on their computer TV machines, as I enjoyed doing today.

Alone and not healthy on a holiday weekend, I have found much to challenge my thinking today.

Unless the uploader is the copyright holder and gave you permission to post the movie here, it probably isn't legal to post that here.

Please consider editing your post.

decide if this is "legal" or otherwise.

I didn't post the film on Youtube, I have nothing at all to do with the fact that the film is now there to see.

I have no problem with giving fellow DU members links to posts on Youtube.

Why should I?

If there are copyright infringements there, Youtube will be the arbiter, and the link will be taken down.

I am an old man who likes seeing films that meant something to me in the last 60 years. I'm not making money by telling you that this is up on Youtube.

If you want to feel paranoid, that's your option. I just enjoy sharing something that's out there today.

I did NOT "post the movie here" I posted a link which takes you to the Youtube content. Try to stay current with the technology. If I played a record while you were in my home, would I need to pay a royalty to the musician and the record producer? Please! A basic understanding of copyright law and commercial entertainment law would get you over your fears.

If the Youtube video vanishes from Youtube tomorrow, you can be sure some lawyers in NYC or Hollywood are making great money fighting this out. Otherwise, enjoy the film.

Edited to add: Youtube, owned by Google, has ways of verifying copyright signatures on digital releases, over 100,000 films produced in the last 75 years. This video was posted by someone in the UK. International copyright agreements betwee major nations, (US, France, UK, Germany, etc.) allow for content to be blocked in certain nations, and not in others. Try looking up some films or TV shows from the USA or the UK, you can see them in one country, not another. Be assured, full content 1 hour or longer videos of major film or TV show releases are monitored by computer and staff of Google in the respective parts of the globe, with full knowledge of copyright laws. Occasionally, one or two films or TV shows slip thru...I doubt something put up 3 weeks ago didn't escape Google review, but if it did, it will come down soon, and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

That's twice in 2 days I've seen you mistake a friendly, helpful suggestion for something else.

Lighten up brother. Nobody here is gonna take away your fun. IF you go through this site thinking everything directed to you is an attack on you then you're gonna end up having no fun but not because anyone here took it away.

DUDE, we are on your side - everyone here is...at least unless and until you continue to think everything is intended to slight you in some way. Maybe in your real life you have people that don't take kindly to your beliefs (I know I do - including close family and friends) but nobody here means you any harm.

I know I welcome your perspective and look forward to your contributions to the group.

Will hold off on repost unless there's answers on copyright status. BM may have released it, I know some other documentaries, like "Jesus Camp" have been put out there with permission of the folks who made them.

10. Importance of YouTube to questioning theists

I think that YouTube can play an important role in turning theists who may have questions/misgivings into full fledged atheists. We need more thoughtful and respectful videos from people who left their beliefs behind. It could be somewhat similar to The It Gets Better Campaign -> www.itgetsbetter.org
