2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI have always loved the ritual of voting on Election Day, but this year
I plan to vote early. As a retired person, I can easily vote anytime. Maybe one less person at the polls on November 6 will make it easier for a voter who does not have as much flexibility in their schedule.
I will bake a pie with my grandson on Election Day though, just like we did last year. Remember all of President Obama's references to pie during the last campaign? We decided baking a pie in honor of President Obama was a good way to end the election season. And so it shall be again this year.

(11,155 posts)can say they helped elect a President on their birthday, won't see another one unless I live to be 89. Have fun with the pie and the grandson.

(3,521 posts)But I think I will go to the polls on election day. It would not seem real otherwise. I plan to be there at 7 am to vote Democratic!

(3,521 posts)the better the participation will be. But I want to go to the polls, stand in line, see other Americans do the same and go to the booth and cast my vote. Just the way I feel.

(63,912 posts)a deep blue state, there are my fellow Americans in all the other states who are longing for Obama to win! I am comforted by that thought.

(5,756 posts)It is so great. I get a voter's guide and ballot. I can actually read what the candidates say they stand for in the voter's guide. It really helps inform me.
Damn, that is democracy. How could it get any better?

(2,593 posts)We can bake two, one to give away and one to enjoy. My grandson expects to fully enjoy the celebration by eating pie!
