Physicians for a National Health Program, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of 20,000 doctors who support single-payer national health insurance, released the following statement today by its president, Dr. Robert Zarr, a Washington, D.C., pediatrician.
The national debate on single-payer health reform, or "Medicare for All," that has emerged in the course of the presidential primaries is a welcome development. But unfortunately a number of misrepresentations about single-payer national health insurance and the prospects for its attainment have crept into the dialogue and are potentially misleading the public.

the Mayor of Flint has endorsed Hillary already, and since Hillary has such a "difficult"
time figuring out how single-payer could work for America.

(32,723 posts)People forget that it was once considered to be a punchline to spend an evening with an insurance salesman.
These are the people who denied claims. The classic was the widow with kids trying to collect on her late husband's policy and them trying to find a loophole to deny the claim. "Oh, he was clearly engaging in risky behavior when he was rear-ended by the semi on the freeway. Everyone knows freeways are dangerous."
These are the people we made into middlemen between us and our doctor.
People say "health insurance" as if it's synonymous with "healthcare".
