Madonna angers Obama’s campaign by calling him ‘black Muslim’

N o question about it, President Barack Obama’s campaign honchos are none too happy about Madonna these days. While the superstar’s comments on stage during her Washington, D.C., concert the other night were meant as an endorsement of the president’s re-election effort, her description of Obama as a “black Muslim” caused a huge uproar.
Even though Madonna issued a statement stressing she was being “ironic” and saying it was more of a joke about people who ignorantly believe Obama is a Muslim, a top campaign source told me Thursday, “that’s not really helped. … It merely brings that whole crazy Muslim story up again. It just again fuels those false rumors about [the president] being a Muslim in the minds of the right-wing people who also believe he was not born in Hawaii.”

I see what she was doing. But, she could have waited til after the election to do her little performance art schtick. I guess in the scheme of things it doesn't really matter too much.
