2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYoung voters, Bernie and Hillary: The Holden Caulfield Effect
Young voters overwhelmingly support Bernie over Hillary. Purely anecdotal, but I keep hearing the same things from them. It boils down to this: They think she's a phony. Hillary is still the favorite, but she is in deep trouble as the nominee if she can't change the perceptions of voters under 35.

Are you denying that young voters are supporting Bernie over Hillary by a large majority? That preference manifested itself last night in Iowa and is reflected in every poll.

(2,872 posts)and shit like that. The only time we will be acknowledged by Camp Weathervane is to imply that we're naïve for wanting change.

(2,872 posts)A lot of us seriously prioritize college education. Hell, I sold my body to the government for six years just to be able to go to college WITHOUT that debt. And you've got Hillary saying debt-free college is unacceptable. She effectively made herself anathema to young voters; and I can see her trying to pander to win us back-- but I doubt it'll work. I can't trust her, and I know other voters can't as well.

(814 posts)The Student Loan crisis now is the closest equivalent to the draft issue in terms of getting young people out to vote. They have skin in the game and Hillary is saying debt-free college which is unacceptable. You still have debt, a millstone around your neck that effects what job you will choose and that is UNACCEPTABLE. We have jobs that some people would love to do but don't pay enough.
