If Sanders is a 'socialist." Isn't Clinton a 'capitalist?'

Everywhere one looks the media keep referring to Bernie Sanders a s socialist, or democratic socialist or 'self-described' democratic socialist.

WHEN are they going to refer to Hillary Clinton as capitalist?

Or any other politician, for that matter, as this is not an attack from me on Clinton.

I agree what you said "They're both socialists and both capitalists" But maybe the question is what percentage of socialist and capitalist is each one. Makes me think.

8. That, to me, is the important issue.

I suspect that Bernie really does think of himself as a socialist/capitalist to some degree, as he views those terms, although I don't know that I have ever heard him state it quite that way.
But I doubt Hillary thinks of herself as a socialist at all. I wish somebody would come out and ask her. THAT might be interesting.

AND, how interesting of someone would ask the republican candidates if they have any socialist... um... 'tendencies.' :&gt

I doubt many if any other congress-critters think of themselves as having any 'socialism' in their make up. Elizabeth, excepted. There probably are a few I do not know about.

But it's the whole idea that the media to a great extent uses calling Bernie a socialist just to piss on him.

But i believe in capitalism with a human face.

Good luck trying to run a campaign against capitalism as such in this country. That'll win you a big, big victory.

9. Capitalism with a human face would be nice.

But it is a contradiction in terms, I think.

Maybe socialism is the human face that needs to be put on capitalism.

Capitalism and U.S. Imperialism are responsible directly and indirectly for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people and the destruction of hundreds of millions more throughout its insidious history and it gets worse every day. That is objective and historical material reality.

Instead of bringing "stability" to the world... capitalism brought depression and destruction. Instead of bringing democracy and prosperity to the world, it has destroyed local societies throughout the globe. Capitalism ripped people from their land for the profits of corporate parasites.

Fascism... Imperialism... Colonialism... Famine... Genocide...All the many wonders of "Capitalism with a human face."

...is not a problem in and of itself. What we as Democrats want is well-regulated capitalism -- and rather like a well-regulated militia, that is often easier said than done.

Good old Teddy Roosevelt (R) went trust busting a century ago, and we need some more of that now. Note that TR did NOT try to destroy capitalism; he just wanted more balance in society and more for the social good. Like most of us even today.

HRC is not going to be called a capitalist because that is the norm. It's a given. She's not a bad person or candidate for being in the norm. In fact she is very socially progressive and wants to regulate the financial industries quite a lot. (Refer to her position papers; I'm quite sure you can google them.)

What's unusual in the US -- very unusual -- is for a politician to wear the Socialist label his whole career. Which is what Bernie has done, whatever modifier he may have chosen to add to that. Media is in the business of pointing out the unusual. And if he didn't want to be called a Socialist, he shouldn't have been calling himself a Socialist for the past 40+ years.
