Maddow: Hard to see Sanders winning

For Rachel Maddow, the thought of Bernie Sanders' candidacy making it all the way to the Democratic National Convention in July is "hard to imagine."

"Bernie Sanders is running this fascinating campaign where he’s all about people being angry and dissatisfied and frustrated. He wants you to be disaffected and frustrated about an economic system that keeps you from ever ascending the ladder," the debate co-moderator told Playboy in an interview published Thursday ahead of the MSNBC telecast.

While remarking upon Sanders' success in tapping into people's emotions as "cathartic" and popular, she cautioned that his "sort of economic populism is a tough sell."

"The diagnosis is right; the cure isn’t easy," she said. "My prediction for Bernie: populist hero forever but hard to imagine him still being there at the convention."

As a Sanders supporter I think it is a much more difficult road for Bernie. He is the underdog to an establishment very politically savvy and well financed candidate who has been running for President most of her life. She has a very well oiled machine and tons of surrogates who are tasked with doing her dirty work.

She sees Bernie as a populist hero who is probably not going to be the nomination. All Sanders people know it's a very tough road to get past the Clinton machine.

As a Sanders supporter I will do my best to get him to the finish line. But I would be a fool to think he will have it easier than the anointed one.

Doesn't have anything to do with his policies not being the best. Just hard to get past the corporate media noise.

She has more or less elevated herself to rock star status at the network and I'm sure she likes the rarified atmosphere and exalted circles in which she now travels.

She doesn't need Bernie Sanders, she's set for life if she just mouths the proper platitudes. And I'm guessing that she was told that in so many words by the corporate suits who run the network.

Hey this is America, 2016, there's no future in standing up for the little guy. It just took a little longer for Rachel to be convinced than suckers like Matthews.

The theme is to desperately convince us that Sanders can’t win. They repeat it over and over, even though Sanders polls as well or better than Hillary Clinton does against every leading Republican candidate.

Behind this effort is an alarmed corporate old guard that still runs the Democratic Party establishment and their allies in the corporate think tanks and the media, with a special nod to NBC/MSNBC, which is owned and operated by General Electric and Comcast.
