The ACA and insurance lobbyists

One of Rachel Maddow's questions to Bernie Sanders was whether he admits that corporations sometimes do good things (of course he said yes). Maddow cited the contribution of health insurance lobbyists to Obamacare.

I thought that was a a strange example. Obama originally wanted to have a public option and no individual mandate. Because of health insurance lobbyists, we got no public option and an individual mandate.

The individual mandate is the aspect of Obamacare which Republicans understandably use to get people riled up: the government is forcing you to buy health insurance.
