Can someone explain to me why it's impossible to like and admire both Bernie and Hillary?

Because I do.

I don't understand the bitter, bad-tempered tribalism of the Democratic Primary. I have my problems with both candidates, but neither of them makes me ashamed to believe what I believe. I'm sure there are some level-headed establishment Republicans out there who clutch their heads every time they see one of their primary contenders. But we Democrats are very fortunate to have fostered a culture of logic, reason, and commitment to public service that informs our primary candidates. Let's not treat them as if they were the same as the insane clown posse that is the Republican slate.

I suppose a plea of 'can't we just all get along?' will get its share of jeers. But regardless, I'm voting straight Democratic all the way down the ballot in the primary, and then again in the general. Flouncing off in a huff on Election Day without voting because our favorite candidate didn't clinch the nomination is the surest way to lose everything we have gained in the Obama Era, and end up worse than we were in 2008.

Vote.

Vote for the Democrat of your choice.

But vote!

and dig into actual policy, and meaningful change - for the majority of Americans, not just the few at the top.

I admire and like them both, but I strongly support Bernie for what we need at this particular time.

both like and admire both. I do. Each has positive attributes and each has less positive ones.

I stopped looking for the perfect presidential candidate almost as soon as I started thinking about politics. There isn't one. No such person exists.

I'll gladly vote for either of our Democratic candidates this November. I'm supporting Hillary for the nomination, for a long list of reasons. If she isn't the nominee, I'll be equally supportive of Bernie Sanders.

I like both. There are a few things I don't like about both. But I will fully support whoever is the nominee.

My primary is in June so I don't really have to choose now.

You can like em both, I do. Just because some are putting all their apples in one basket doesn't mean that's the smart thing to do. I haven't seen the hate here on DU this bad since....last election! I don't put an ounce of credence on anything that is written here. I make my own decisions and you should too. We have two wonderful candidates, either of which would do a phenominal job at being our president.

And will vote democratic all the way, no matter who is the nominee... I'm supporting Clinton at the moment because I feel she has the "right stuff" I'm looking for. Loved your use of the word "tribalism"...because the vitriol of some/most of the Sanders supporters has gone beyond a normal level of debate. I'll get flamed for this but I feel the youth of some are showing through: most of the comments are either Sanders talking points or immature bully responses...

Sorry, but calling Clinton a "killer" is not acceptable...democrats don't eat their own...as "tribal" as this has become...

I've seen so much open warfare here!

Hillary is not the center of evil in the universe, REPUBLICANS are!!! Bernie is far from perfection.

However, both are only somewhat different from each other compared to the Dystopian Hellscape that the Clown Car (R) offers us.

IMHO, Anyone of either of the Bernie/Hillary camps who partakes in the PUMA Purity Test, sits out the general election and pouts is no better than the worst, most racist tea-fascist the opposition has to offer. YOU have let down your country.

WE MUST WIN. AND WE WILL. TOGETHER.

This could be our undoing in November if these wounds, which have become really personal, are not healed. I'm not convinced it isn't trolls trying to stir up the party but it may just be where we are as a party and a country right now.

We need to keep our eyes on the prize, retaining the white house and trying to wrest control of the House and the States. If we look away, if we stay home because we are mad our candidate didn't win, they win and they will change the course of the Supreme Court and this country for 40 years.

And are proud to be friends with a War criminal like Kissinger who stood for the same as well, The death of thousands upon thousands of innocents from either third world dictators supported by Hillary or Kissinger, or by our own hands in unnecessary wars (leaving cluster munitions behind for the children to play with) just does not make me go "awe, what a great and lovable person, I really like that person."

I do not do the cult of personality that ignores such death and destruction. I am not a sociopath that lacks human empathy, so certain things I can't like or rather ignore as if it never happened.

It's about all the suffering and the complete and total corrupt system. There is only one candidate who recognizes this fact and is willing to take it on with the help of the American people. We can join the battle, or we can all go down with the status quo that is killing people, or we can start to turn the ship around.

29 million uninsured, NOT OKAY
62 people with the wealth of 3.4 billion, NOT OKAY
48% of black males in prison for nothing, NOT OKAY
Unaffordable college, NOT OKAY
Jobs going overseas to protect profit, NOT OKAY
Not enough jobs for the people who need them, NOT OKAY
Oil and gas polluting our planet, NOT OKAY

These things will NEVER EVER be addressed under a Clinton administration, because all of these industries have paid for her to get into the white house and guard the status quo.
Enough is enough!
