(34,109 posts)I make it a point to watch anything that I see he is acting in. He always has a very reachable human quality about him. I am happy to see this although surely not surprised!

(9,086 posts)Yes he is a great actor too. His political activism is very deep too.

(16,327 posts)getting arrested for the right causes -- dude walks his talk to the extreme. He's still very active in our local politics and it is not uncommon to see him taking to our streets for important local issues. I used to see him a lot at a market here back in the 80s -- it was very hard to miss him standing in the checkout line because he stands a good head above everyone around him!

(34,109 posts)I KNEW he was a good guy. You can just see that kind of goodness in people. He is one of the few people I would most like to meet.

(11,546 posts)I was a flight attendant and he was flying with us on his way back home to the SF Bay Area. He was really hungry because he hadn't eaten in about a week because of the protests to help the agricultural workers. We found him another meal. Really good guy!

(45,319 posts)There are few people I respect as much as I respect Danny Glover. Danny Glover on how he got into acting:
"In 1967, the students at San Francisco State invited the poet Amiri Baraka to the campus for a semester. He attracted other influential black writers such as Sonia Sanchez, Ed Bullins, Eldridge Cleaver. What emerged was something we called the community communications program. That's how I got involved; I got involved in a little play."
Another quote:
"This country has always been run by elite, and it's an elitist democracy. And that's not a radical concept. It's elitist democracy. When people talk about democracy, they don't talk - really talk about participatory democracy, until the point that we get us at Election Day."

(900 posts)I respect Mr.Glover so much
He actually has done real work for n Haiti unlike like some people who only go there to create free trade zones and dine with the Haitian elite.
