2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumReddit is supposedly ground zero for those awful, hateful Berniebros.
I have never seen anything remotely sexist, racist or hateful there. What i see there is a ton of hard work and organizing and conversations about how to help the campaign.

(114,904 posts)It's a huge platform. And here you are. I've never encountered any pornography on reddit. I have picked up some good crochet tips.
A website that has kiddie porn on it would not be one of the most visited websites daily, moreover, it would be shut down.
You seem to be highly uninformed and should do some research before you say heinous things like that.

(12,977 posts)Last month they had 231,002,204 unique visitors. (https://www.reddit.com/about/) In contrast, DU currently claims 230,070 registered users.
Granted that "visitors" is a somewhat larger group than members, that still means reddit is in the ballpark of 1000 times the size of DU. And it currently has 11,282 active subreddits. That's a huge number. A few of those are places where you might find misogynist or even racist attitudes freely expressed, but the majority are thoughtful, serious, or creatively humorous about their areas of interest.
You can also find more in-depth discussion there on many topics than you can here. Lawyers, aviation experts, people who are knowledgeable about computer hacking -- whatever the story of the moment, there's often someone prepared to weigh in with expert background.
Reddit does have its flaw and weak points, but on the whole it's a positive influence and an excellent organizing platform for idealistic causes.
