Question for Bernie supporters...how does one go from supporting Bernie to voting for Trump?

I simply cannot understand the mindset. How does one go from supporting Bernie to voting for Donald Trump over Hillary?

------------

If Bernie Sanders loses, his backers may not be there for Hillary Clinton in November

Gio Vanecchia is so enamored of Bernie Sanders that he made a five-hour drive with his wife and infant son from South Jersey on Saturday morning to catch a glimpse of the progressive firebrand.

But what if Sanders loses the Democratic nomination? Asked whether he will be there to vote for the Democrat in November should Sanders falter, the 34-year-old union mechanic reacts as if the question is insane. There is not a chance, he insists, that he would ever support Hillary Clinton.

“She’s establishment,” Vanecchia said. “Most of the guys I work with think she’s a criminal.”

Vanecchia’s second choice for president is Donald Trump.

I've seen people liking Trumps anti-NAFTA, anti-TPP rhetoric, etc. Also Trump is self-funding and refusing to use Super PACs.

But right wing populism is literally fascism. Trump is literally a fascist.

Feb 2016

Dick around with making people define "establishment " all you like, people know it when they see it.

The onus is on her to persuade people to vote for her if she wins the nomination.

She and her surrogates have done their level best to alienate and piss off BS supporters who are fed up with the status quo. Good luck trying to win them back.

You Hillary supporters have been told this over and over. It shouldn't be any surprise.

No, the onus is on Democrats to vote for the (D) in November. Those who care about their fellow citizens will - those who don't give a shit won't.

It's THAT simple.

Regardless of who your candidate-of-preference is, using your vote to ensure that a Republican doesn't win the WH is the right thing to do. And if you have to be wooed, cajoled, courted, sweet-talked, and/or have your ass kissed in order to DO the right thing, you've already proven that you're not worth the time or the effort.

If you demand Sanders supports to pledge to vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination, you sure as hell better do the same if Bernie wins the nomination.

Otherwise you undermine your entire argument with obstinacy.

Sun Feb 7, 2016, 02:53 AM
Feb 2016

... that Bernie supporters "pledge" to vote for Hillary?

Reading is fundamental. I said the exact opposite.

What I DID say was that the onus was on every individual to ensure that the Republicans do not retake the White House. What I DID say is that it is a matter of each individual's choice.

If you choose NOT to vote for the (D) in November, that's on YOU. And if you require having your ass kissed in order to do the right thing, you can wave that ass in the air from now until election night, waiting for someone who thinks your vote is worth it to pucker-up.

Just don't expect many takers.

I think it was your contention that I'd "demanded Sanders supports to pledge to vote for Hillary", when I in fact said the complete opposite.

Yes, of course, the onus is on me, too. But I'm not part of the contingent who have been saying they won't vote (D) in the general if my candidate is not the nominee.

Not namin' names, but there is only one candidate's supporters who have been saying that all along.

Trump has said that the Iraq War was a huge mistake that he has opposed from the beginning and we would be better off if we had invested the money spent on the war into infrastructure at home.

Just to be clear, I won't be voting for Trump, I'm a yellow dog who'll vote for the Dem nominee.

But the above are how I see how a person could go from Bernie to Trump, I guess. Maybe.

The fact that Bernie is a sitting Senator makes him somewhat a part of the establishment but we are talking just barely. He's really pretty far left for the Democratic Party.

Trump is eye ball deep in establishment. He's been playing the game for 40+ years. He can blabble all he wants but it is what it is. So even on the "anti-establishment" scale I don't see it.

All I see in that one is anyone but Hillary. No one on the DU would go Trump. That's ridiculous.

I think they are responding to one candidate who says F-U to the people some blame, and the other says it to the people they should blame.
