Clinton is on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, and Stephanopoulos keeps lobbing her softballs and she is badly losing a debate where her and Stephanopoulos are both on her side! Stephanopoulos gave her every chance to explain this Elizabeth Warren clip where Warren explains that Clinton's flip-flop on the bankruptcy bill was a payback for her friends on Wall Street:

Clinton's squirming was painful to watch.

CLINTON: When I got to the Senate in 2001, one of the first big votes there was on a version of the bankruptcy bill ... And I got that bill changed. And in return, it had nothing to do with any money whatsoever and I resent deeply any effort by the Sanders campaign to so imply. It had to do with trying to get a deal
STEPHANOPOULOS: But thats not what
CLINTON: that would protect women. But now let me finish, George, because this has been bandied about and I just want to set the record straight. .... I faced a tough decision and ... I went to the Senate floor, said that was exactly what I was doing. Then the bill did not pass. It never became law. ... But they have been quite artful in raising questions and trying to cast doubts about my record.
And I really am not going to sit and take it anymore
STEPHANOPOULOS: But Senator
CLINTON: I have a public record. I have never, ever been influenced in a view or a vote by anyone who has given me any kind of money. So Im just going to keep setting the record straight.

(1,198 posts)for yourself and feel free to watch Clinton squirm for yourself and offer your own undoubtedly unbiased assessment. That's how adults discuss issues.

(13,877 posts)You have a problem with that? They just shovel it towards us...what are to do...shovel it back? Maybe it was once a fleeting thought, but...

And I have a big old bridge to sell.

(3,795 posts)Most people in this country believe that our system has been corrupted by special interests via speaking fees, campaign donations, and SuperPacs.
She's not doing herself any favors using that line of approach. It's one that Donald Trump would RELISH tearing her apart with.

(13,877 posts)They just have 8 more years of foibles to choose from. Many of them recently. It they had chosen a less "inevitable" candidate, there would be no Bernie. So, maybe it's just as well.

(23,720 posts)The question was about something Warren said. By making this about Sander's and his campaign was she saying that Senator Warren is on Sander's campaign or is she just tripping badly over her own tongue?

(2,262 posts)going door to door on the Sunday shows using words like innuendo and artful smears. It plays right into the victim card she has become known for. Hillary has this uncanny ability to drive ordinary people away from her. And it will continue. For that, I really thank her and her handlers for the entertainment.

(1,198 posts)she was in 2008.
She needs to look back at 2008 and run OBAMA's winning campaign and not re-run her LOSING campaign. How does she not see this?

(3,366 posts)As FLOTUS, she opposed the bankruptcy bill.
Then when the bill came up, Senator Hillary was supposedly deluged by women begging her to fix it. So she fixed it, and "in return" for getting it fixed for women & children (not because of any Wall St. money), she voted FOR it. The bill did not pass. But who owned her vote "in return"? Why didn't she just vote against it?? Was she afraid it might pass, and so she nobly stuck in some provisions, so when she voted for it women would be protected? My mind reels.
Then the bill came up for a vote again -- this time with all the women/children protections -- so she says she spoke out AGAINST it, but didn't actually vote because of Bill. This time it passed.
So, the bill was good when she voted for it because it protected women/children.
Then it was bad when she didn't vote for it because it protected women/children.
She didn't vote for it, or avoid voting against it, because it helped out banks. No! She did it for the children!?

(13,877 posts)No need to justify a return...just shovel it out of here. I don't think so. That has to be the most awkward moment I've seen on video. "They just gave it to me" or some such drivel.

(35,015 posts)The worst thing she can do is repeatedly continue to bring up her record, claim it shows she's isn't influenced by money, then refuse to release her transcripts.
She is on the defensive, and that's not a good sign for any campaign.
Hey Hillary, when you're in a hole, stop digging.

Bernie should put his transcripts up on his web site, to answer Hillary's challenge. I have a feeling they will sound like all his other speeches.
