2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary and Bernie will be in St. Paul, MN tonight.
They'll be at a fundraising dinner. I'd love to be there, but I can't afford the price to attend. Not a chance. Still, fundraising is very important in the political environment we have. Both Bernie and Hillary realize that, which is why they're attending. Each will, no doubt, make remarks this evening. It won't be a debate. They'll each make a case for a big turnout and the need to defeat Republicans.
It's a political fundraiser, and everyone who attends will be a supporter of Democratic candidates. It's not cheap to attend these events. Much is expected from those donors. They are important to the success of Democratic candidates. I don't begrudge them their privilege. I hope they set a fundraising record tonight.
I'm not opposed to candidates raising funds in this way at all. Apparently neither do Hillary and Bernie. It's politics as it's done in this country. Very expensive. Don't expect Bernie to scold those who attend, even though many of them will be prominent leaders of corporations. Don't expect Hillary to scold them, either.
It's politics. I'll be sorry to miss the chance to hear both of them. I'll never be in a position to attend this type of event, but I'm glad it's sold out. We need money to support our candidates.

(146,320 posts)Clinton's schedule won't get her to St. Paul until later. That forum is being held in a historic church in North Minneapolis, a neighborhood with many problems that need to be corrected. It will be full, of course. I won't be there. I'm not a resident of that neighborhood, and wouldn't take up a place someone who lives there might want.
Beyond that, I have no information.
ETA: That forum has been moved from the church, which seats only 400 to a local school, with a capacity of 1200. It starts at 4 PM. The Mondale Dinner starts at 5:30 PM.
