Bernie lived in Chicago at the time and was doing events there. Lewis I believe lived in the DC area at the time. So, I am not sure how they would have met.

... who was busy campaigning AGAINST the Civil Rights Act and voting AGAINST the Civil Rights Act! Or perhaps when she was a leader of the Republican group as a freshman at Wellesley College. And she did have a choice there to be a Democrat as this video probably indicates...

He met Hill and Bill when they were in their teens. And while Hillary was still trying to fight her way out of the darkness of conservatism. Unfortunately I think she has lost the fight.

We're just supposed to think that's what he meant. It's called obfuscation. It's not a lie.

Get that? It's NOT a lie... if you believe it.

13. Now, now - It must have taken great courage for two teenagers ( one who wore a Goldwater pin)

To meet with and get involved with Lewis in the marches during that struggle. I Also think Hillary deserves Kudos for wearing a "Goldwater Girl" pin "ironically" as she was decades ahead of the trend now typified by our current younger generation to wear tings "ironically".

I wonder if there romance actually started much earlier than thought, running away from home in secret to become civil rights activists, it sounds legendarily romantic.

It's a pity they have never chosen to share such a stunningly romantic story with their many, many fans.

They were inspired by a song that Simon & Garfunkel would record in the future.

12. "...but I met Hillary." In the 60s?

How does that even make sense?

"I never saw him. I never met him. I was chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee for three years, from 1963 to 1966. I was involved with the sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington, the march from Selma to Montgomery and directed (the) voter education project for six years. But I met Hillary Clinton. I met President (Bill) Clinton."

Okay, since he was "obviously referring to the 60s" can you explain where and when he met the Clintons?

Because the word "but" is generally used to indicate contrast.

Weaselly words from a legitimate civil rights icon, hard to watch this unfold. I will never think of him the same again.
