Related: About this forumWhy Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Deserve the Latino Vote
Plus these polices have targeted not only black people, but Latinos as well. Latino men are incarcerated at a rate two and a half times higher than their non-Latino white counterparts, and Latino men are four times more likely to be imprisoned in their lifetimes than non-Latino white men. Close to a third of all inmates in federal prisons are Latino, and Latinos are the fastest growing group of inmates in both state and federal prisons. Hopefully I neednt explain how cutting public welfare aid negatively affects Latino communities, which suffer wealth, income and educational disparities nearly comparable to blacks.
And if Hillarys support for such policies at least in the past werent bad enough, her policies toward Latin America and immigration further underscore why she doesnt deserve the Latino vote. As the son of a Honduran mother, but also as someone whose generally opposed to the overthrow of democratically elected governments, Ive written about the former State secretarys behind-the-scenes support for Hondurass military coup in 2009. In the Latin America section of her 2014 memoir Hard Choices, Mrs. Clinton had the gall to admit working to restore order with the coup regime in power while trying to block the return of President Manuel Zelaya, a demand made by the rest of the hemisphere. When Clinton came out in favor of increasing security aid to Central America, an initiative dubbed Plan Central America, after the earlier Plan Colombia which pacified that country through the violation of human rights, I asked:

(4,176 posts)If not, why would you assume to agree or not agree with such a statement?
Why would you even talk about it?
If you are Latino, then I am very interested in your opinion about who does and does not deserve your vote.

(4,176 posts)thread where people are told why black voters shouldnt vote for Clinton so I asked that person the same thing.
The info in the post I assume was written by someone else as there is a link there.
As an American Latino, if Hillary is the nominee and not Bernie, do you agree that with all of her baggage, and she has it for sure, it is still a no brainer that you would vote for her or not?
Is assuming you would wrong on my part?

Laughable is what that is.
Thanks for the heads up, I was certain this was happening.

(26,549 posts)on someone who did not even write the words in question. Then you move on to yet another loyalty oath, ignoring the obvious offense that you have caused to another poster.
And here you go, continuing to attack.
The time to back off was before you posted your first reply. You really should have realized you were being an ass in your second.
But march on, my friend. Your Latino outreach program is really good. It's TOTALLY going net Clinton the votes you want.
Jackie Wilson Said
(4,176 posts)black people who deserves their vote and who doesnt, I wanted to know if this person was a Latino making the same statement or not.
And then I said if she was I DID want to hear more about it.
But if she was just another white person lecturing non white folks, I wouldnt be interested at all.
jeff47
(26,549 posts)You didn't. You went after the poster quoting the article. Hoping that she wasn't a Latina, so you could go on the rant you are currently attempting to go on. "AH HA! You are telling Latinos what to think when you aren't one!!!" despite the fact that the OP didn't write the article.
(Never mind that Hector Luis Alamo at Latino Rebels might be a clue of the author's ethnicity)
But hey, team Clinton knows you NEVER retreat!! So you need something.....I know!!! Loyalty oath! Again, directed at the person who did not write the article.
Sometimes, it's a good idea to cut your losses. This is one of those times.

(4,176 posts)WHITE people to tell any non white people how to vote, can you?
I even have one person here telling me white people are victims of racism.
Dear god
jeff47
(26,549 posts)1) Who wrote the article?
Hector Luis Alamo. At a site called Latino Rebels.
2) Is he a Latino?
Well, his name sure sounds like it. And the fucking site is called Latino Rebels.
3) Is he the one telling Latinos "how to vote"?
Why, yes. He is.
4) Does that mean posters on DU pointing this out to me are white people telling anyone how to vote?
Why, no. It's not the same at all. Instead, they're pointing out how you are attacking DUers for an article they did not write, and for doing something they are not doing.
5) Am I going to continue to rage against other people, in order to try to cover for my really, really obvious mistake?
We'll see shortly.

I am Latina/Native American and Irish to be transparent. I have a late brother who was stopped for a "traffic violation" in Texas and held for a week without being charged.

(9,497 posts)I will caucus for Bernie in March. The Clintons buried the hope of me voting for her in 2008 when they dog whistled during the Super Tuesday. Sure, she was not targeting Latinos exactly, but how you do one thing is how you do everything. This was a supremacy move and still expects our devotion because it isn't "as bad" as the overt racism on the other side. H was been on board with killing lots of brown people scattered across this globe. Most of the hatred in this country against brown people don't really care if one is Mexican, Muslim, Indian or Honduran. There is a crazy youtube video of a woman going off on two Brazilian men because she thinks they are ISIS.
The OP writer is Latina. She has been a proud and constant poster on this site. You seem to have wanted to come here just to squash any conversation. I ask you this. If I am not a teacher, am I discouraged from posting any thoughts teachers may have on the primaries? Or is it just race?

I do understand what you are conveying, that you came by choice, you are present to being a US citizen and all that you embraced.
But don't let a--holes on the internet make you prove your worth. You don't need to.
Everyone here and around the globe is affected by our presidential choice. Everyone here in the US whether they are on a day trip or born and bred is affected by racism.
Love your voice, keep it coming!!

You are eternal. You are neither here nor there, but everywhere. You carry the hood in your veins and academia in your heart. You have not forgotten where you come from, but have learned and earned your way into spaces not meant for you. Spaces that are uninviting to your kind. You are poderosa like that. Your vocabulary is vast and your wit is sharp. You are unstoppable.
You feel everything and feel nothing. You carry loads of pain for the displacement you've felt due to your need to question everything. But have had to accept living that confused and living that awake because once you've heard your chains rattle, you cannot unhear them. You do this for you, but you also do this for your mami and your papi and your little hermanita who does not seem to understand herself outside the boxes that our cultura has placed her in.

This was in 1972. 1972, people. Thats 43 years ago. It was for the George McGovern campaign, and she did it with her husband Bill. This point is just plain irrelevant.
