2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo Hillary picked a date for debate. Problem is:.
'Unfortunately, the dates and venues she has proposed don't make a whole lot of sense.
The idea that they want a debate in New York on a night of the NCAA finals -- with Syracuse in the tournament no less -- is ludicrous.
We have proposed other dates which they have rejected' -

In a statement, @brianefallon says the Clinton camp offered 3 dates for a NY debate - 4/5, 4/14 & 4/15 - and Sanders camp rejected all 3.
Brian Fallon ?@brianefallon · 7m7 minutes ago
At this point, it seems like Sanders camp is more interested in having fake excuses to attack Hillary Clinton than actually debating in NY

We were told Sanders was willing to debate on @GMA. Then when we accepted, he balked. Wld be bigger audience than recent nighttime debates

Acting and promoting the idea that she only chose the NCAA finals is disingenuous.

(71,265 posts)Fallon reported to the media that the Hillary camp proposed 3 dates. April 4,14,and 15. One of those dates also had an invitation from Good Morning America to debate which the HRC camp accepted but the Sanders camp rejected.
Not really hard to understand.

(1,890 posts)NCAA final, tax time and a Good Morning America debate when most people would be at work. Come on. This is not a legitimate negotiation this is Kabuki Theatre.

Can she be authentic for one nanosecond?
She's like a child. She can't even negotiate a debate in good faith. She gives three ridiculous options, then takes to social media, "He won't debate me!!!! He's being mean!!!! He's the problem!!!"
Oh Hillary...
Depaysement
(1,835 posts)I just read Fallon's tweets for the last few days. He never said Sanders rejected all three dates. He said Sanders hadn't accepted. That might mean they haven't decided yet. And the OP made it sounded like he proposed or accepted GMA and then backed out.

There is a reason they don't hold debates on super Bowl Sunday. It's called common sense...

Marr
(20,317 posts)She doesn't want to debate at all, but if she must, she wants the audience to be as small as possible, because she doesn't do well in debates against Sanders. Her numbers drop.
We both know that's the fact-- why pretend otherwise? It's a reasonable position for her campaign to take, if not exactly an admirable one.

(11,641 posts)This isn't about whether either of us can Tivo a debate. It's about generating viewers. This is free advertising for the Democratic message.
If someone in marketing was offered time slots on TV and could choose prime time with no competing events or opposite a major national event which would they choose?

Hillary wants to hide.... from all the Fracking that she has marketed around the world.. the Wall Street Speeches... and btw, Where was Hillary born? Ohio... So how is it that New York is where she is from? Just because she's a carpetbagger to New York as a crucial step in her personal ambition to become POTUS does not make her from New York. Bernie was born in Brooklyn! So New York is more appropriately his home turf!
Now a bit more TRUTH about Hillary...

(8,791 posts)He should be happy that she's deigning to debate him at all. A front runner with such a commanding lead as Clinton has right now ought not even acknowledge his existence.
Beggars can't be choosers and he's not in a position to be picky about dates.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)to hear the candidate's stances on the issues so that they can make an informed decision on such a serious matter. This is why he doesn't want the debate on a night with a huge event already scheduled.
Hillary, on the other hand, seems determined to keep the debates as much out of view as possible, trying to schedule them at times where the least amount of people are able to watch.
So, clearly she is afraid of the people seeing her debate Sanders. That'swhy originally she only wanted the 6 debates DWS had planned, debates that were alsopurposely buried on dates with other huge events taking place.
It's clear that Hillary is afraid of people seeing her debate Sanders for whatever reason. I can think of several.
