2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhere's the mystery? Here's the link to Bernie's full financial disclosures going back to 1990:
http://www.opensecrets.org/pfds/reports.php?year=2013&cid=N00000528People who are concerned about his being beholden to special interests, hiding millions, etc. should be looking through those disclosures, I know I would be.
And here's a thorough article on Bernie's finances from Money Nation including a breakdown by year, if there was something fishy they didn't find it:
According to Center for Responsive Politics and Money Nation data:
Bernie Sanders Net Worth August 2015: $528,014
Bernie Sanders Net Worth May 2015: $440,511
Bernie Sanders Net Worth 2014: $330,408
Bernie Sanders Net Worth 2013: $330,506
Bernie Sanders Net Worth 2012: $460,506
Net Worth 2011: $308,005
Net Worth 2010: $429,004
Net Worth 2009: $105,003
Net Worth 2008: $219,504
Net Worth 2007: $345,503
Net Worth 2006: $188,504
Net Worth 2005: $128,001
Net Worth 2004: $115,501
Bernie Sanders net worth has fluctuated over time, from $115,501 in 2004 to $345,503 in 2007. The 2008 financial crisis may have caused a drop of 36% of Sanders net worth in that year. Sanders net worth sunk as low as $105,003 in 2009 and has gone as high as $460,506 in 2012.
Our figures above show a rise of $87,503 in Bernie Sanders net worth between May and August of 2015. However, only part of that rise comes from an actual change in Bernie Sanders net worth. Most of the change comes from amendments to disclosure forms. In other words, Sanders didnt suddenly make an extra $87,000.

(8,175 posts)Cause you know they want to point out how much more the Clintons give to charity (there own foundation of course) than the Sanders do.
More to charity means they are super nice people. Less to charity means he's a stingy old grump.
for the life of me, what the fuck else could be on his tax returns, other than donations, that they can't see on his financial disclosures already online?

(55,981 posts)go ahead and present your case, but plez don't think you can get away with the "insinuating questions" Fox News trick. "If Obama wasn't born in Kenya, where is the proof."
How disappointing that our tent now includes those that idolize the corruption of Big Money in our government.

(11,945 posts)See, they don't care that there's "nothing there." They just want everyone else to think there is something there.
Their rich, underhanded, crooked, parasitical candidate cannot be looked at, much less touched. While Bernie Sanders, who is similar to any other educated, successful two-earner family, is fair game for every kind of rumor and accusation.
They have no shame because they have no conscience.

(55,981 posts)How many tens of millions will Hillary and Bill be able to get "paid" by their foundation. Chelsea has already amassed $15 million. From hard work (wink, wink). There is corruption where ever you look. We need to get the corruption out of our politics.

(55,981 posts)teachers, garbage people, wait staffs, sand-blasters, etc. All the people that got their money stolen by the Wealthy 1% that you idolize. You insult hard working men and women by suggesting that the Clintons work for their money. They get $10 million per year for speeches.
But it's really graft. See the picture of Clinton giving corporations speeches while the corporations wheel wheelbarrow loads of cash to their personal accounts, and then the Clintons supporting the deregulation of banks. It's corruption at its worst. People are losing their homes to the banks as the banks are being deregulated and giving the Clinton $10 of millions.
JaneyVee
(19,877 posts)Not Hillary. And teachers, garbage collectors, and pipe fitters make good salaries too. That is the career path they chose.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)to work so hard? Blaming the victims. I have family that had their house repossessed but the banks you defend. They didn't choose that. I know someone that lost his retirement to the greed of those you idolize. He is too old at 55 to find a job and his knee restricts what he can do. He will get SS in a few years if he makes it, unless those Wealthy 1% that you idolize kill SS like they've promised. I could go on but you don't really care as long as the Clinton Aristocracy amasses more and more wealth from their "hard work" wink wink.

(507 posts)I was reading one link that was posted on DU today and the false concern from that link is because he has a lot of itemized deductions.
And, also, some people bet he doesn't donate to charities. So they want that Schedule A!
He does have a lot of itemized deductions but Vermont has extremely high property and state income taxes. So between those two factors, and potential charitable donations and mortgage interest, I'm betting his itemized deductions are legitimately quite high.

I just want to see if any of them are willing to at least look.

(112,417 posts)is how much is Jane Sander's net worth estimated to be. She doesn't have to file financial disclosure forms.
So much is made about Hillary Clinton's worth and nearly every article also mentions Bill Clinton's net worth in the report. It seems fitting that we find out about Jane Sander's financial holdings also.

(4,975 posts)What people usually hide is the stuff they don't pay tax on. Like the secret accounts or holding companies. What silliness. In his released 2014 you see salaries, pension, taxes paid, charitable donations.
It's pretty dumb to put nefarious dealings into tax returns. We already know Sanders owns a house and about what his family income is. We know he has a $5000 pension from being mayor. We know he donates his "speech" fees, etc. Not a lot to see.
If he hid something, he would, you know, hide it!

(57,349 posts)I don't know what's more pathetic, that they think we don't know what they're doing or that they actually believe it makes Hillary look better in comparison.
A thousandaire who's one of the poorest senators in Washington vs a multi-millionaire who made her fortune taking money from special interests?
Who should we trust?
