Apr 8, 9:41 AM (ET) DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Bernie Sanders' claim that Hillary Clinton isn't qualified to be president landed with a boom this week. The blow was far from the first and won't likely be the last from the candidate who pledged to stay away from negative campaigning.
The Vermont senator kicked off his insurgent presidential bid last year with a pledge to focus on issues over character attacks and boasted often that he's never run a negative ad. But for months Sanders has sharply criticized Clinton, slamming her for supporting the war in Iraq, for her record on trade and most aggressively for her lucrative paid speeches before Wall Street bankers.
While his tone has shifted as the race has grown more combative on both sides, Sanders' campaign officials argue that he has kept his promise. They say he has focused his fire on policy and is simply fighting back against Clinton's own attacks.
"Bernie Sanders decided yesterday that he wasn't going to go into the New York primary and be run over by their campaign," said Tad Devine, a senior adviser to Sanders' campaign. "He responded in kind."

It would appear that Mr. Sanders and his campaign surrogates plan to double or triple down on this angle of attack. We'll see how that works out for them.

(6,994 posts)One could be convinced that Hillary now has Karl Rove on her staff working in the shadows.
She does have 3 Republican Right Wing Advisors and I expect we can expect more Karl Rove/Lee Atwater attacks from her as she gets a lot more nervous as she sees the Polls in PA and NY with Bernie closing the gap quickly.

(6,994 posts)using Karl Rove tactics delivered by Bill, and David "Doberman" Brock. But these attacks go unmentioned by her Corporate Media
Partners. So its ok for Hillary to attack but for Bernie its "how dare you". Hillary's 2016 campaign attacks are duplicated by her 2008 attacks of Obama...think about it.
By the Why hasn't anything been said about Bill Clinton's racist remarks about BLM?

have attacked Bernie Sanders from day one.The Reason: Hillary Clinton cannot talk about the issues because Bernie Sanders talks about what is in the best interests of the American Working Class and Hillary talks about what she will do and will say "I have a plan" then instruct everyone to go to her Web Site and check it out, but problem is there is nothing there except contribute, contribute now..She has to follow her GoldmanSachs,Wall St. scripts and will only go as far as they allow her to because she is owned by Wall St and the Corporate World and the Corporate media owes her because of what Bill Clinton did for them in the 90's...
