2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie will be apologizing for the "whore" remark today
And he will say that "it's not the kind of campaign we run" even though it's proven over and over that it clearly is the kind of campaign they run. Anger is a pillar of the Sanders campaign and they can't control it.

(4,387 posts)...as a corporate whore? Which politician heard that and said, "Hey wait! I'm not a corporate whore!" Because that may be an indicator that you are, in fact, a corporate whore.
It's a well established enough phrase and in the context of his comments encompassed many people, not just one. He also said later that he probably could have found a better way to describe politicians who are more beholden to corporate interests than people.

(45,319 posts)about an individual which is in fact your assertion. Manufactured outrage involves the need to rewrite what was said.
Anyone who wants to hang a man for his words best be sure to use that man's actual words to tie that noose. Any revisions or characterizations used against others are known as 'the bearing of false witness' and that's a form of lying that is often considered to be the very worst form. It is thus in the Christian tradition Hillary claims to follow for example.

The U.S. government does not represent the interests of the majority of the country's citizens, but is instead ruled by those of the rich and powerful, a new study from Princeton and Northwestern universities has concluded.
The report, "Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens" (PDF), used extensive policy data collected between 1981 and 2002 to empirically determine the state of the U.S. political system.
After sifting through nearly 1,800 U.S. policies enacted in that period and comparing them to the expressed preferences of average Americans (50th percentile of income), affluent Americans (90th percentile), and large special interests groups, researchers concluded that the U.S. is dominated by its economic elite.

That was such an over-the-top thing for a surrogate to say and stand by and thank them for it. It may as well have come out of Sanders mouth.
I should also note that not once has Sanders ever addressed the issue of why Hillary Clinton would say anything like that (medicare for all is never going to happen) in the first place. He never explains that she is talking about Republican opposition. In fact, he never mentions that as being much of a problem for anything he promises, because of--you know, "revolution". He should have been talking about the roadblocks they set up against any form of progress all along--preparing his base (he is running as a Democrat after all, and his base should be prepped to support the nominee and all down-ticket Dems). Unfortunately he is too busy smearing Hillary Clinton and running a negative campaign--something he said he would never do. He could stop the dirt--right now.
Apologize Sen. Sanders.

(40,416 posts)Hillary's campaign embraces Citizens United; Bernie's rejects it.
Do you embrace the SCOTUS Citizens United ruling? Then, you probably like Hillary Clinton for president.
Those of us who think that it was one of the most odious SCOTUS rulings in history disagree, which is yet another reason to not support Hillary Clinton for the Dem nomination, for me the most important reason.
Metaphorically and historically, that kind of selling oneself has been called being a whore.
Granted, given Hillary's gender it does not play out very well. But it is what it is. And she is, by definition, a corporate whore in the metaphorical sense. Political correctness outrage won't stop that from being a fact. One look at her contributor list should convince anybody. That is what she has to live with.
If you don't like the whore metaphor, let's try selling her soul to the devil. Either work just fine.

Her entire campaign embraces the SCOTUS Citizens United decision, big money in politics. Whereas, Bernie's eschews that very thing. While Hillary has private, pay-to-play, campaign stops, Bernie invites everybody.
She is evil.
