(63,912 posts)course of storm Sandy up the East Coast. It was a joke but he seemed ready to argue anything with anybody.
I think Joe is in the "bargaining" phase of the grief process...

(42,770 posts)How was your trip?
Are you going to see Bill Clinton on Sunday? My two sisters are.
He's going to be in Waterbury
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)No, I'm not going to Waterbury because that town confuses me. Also, I've got too much to do after my European sojourn. It was nice, tho, getting away from the election madness. I did read the Int'l Herald Tribune every day but saw some great art and intriguing places in Belgium. Food was superb, too!

(42,770 posts)You had a great time !
LOL...my sister said she is "scared" of Waterbury too.
But, Library Park, I looked, is right off 84...straight shot on Meadow 0.3 miles - so they are going.
Things seem better since you left. Obama was fantastic in the foreign affairs debate. And, Nate is showing a good trend again.

(63,912 posts)I wasn't quite so bad during the last weeks of the 08 campaign but knew some people who were.
I was relieved that the last debate went so well. That helped a lot.
I think the rally with Bubba will be terrific. Chris is such a good guy. And he has real talent and dedication. When he debates McMahon she looks small, bitter and nasty...

(5,810 posts)Since he is originally from and represented the Panhandle of Florida (has he reminded us of this lately??) in Congress, he knows only too well the potential for damage and disruptions to the power grid from Hurricane Sandy. I was appalled to see him jump up and start acting like a total ass regarding the report about the path of the storm. Even Mika got in on the act. It was stupid and reckless since now is the time people should be paying attention and preparing for the storm if it comes their way. And I don't know if anyone noticed or not but the area under the gun is HUGE and won't narrow for a day or so. The path at this point is anything but certain.
Ironically, this storm also has the potential to disrupt voting along the Eastern Seaboard. It seems that they are not expecting massive physical damage to buildings but the damage to the power grid is something that must be considered. Also potential for flooding is high. For any states with Early Voting, it could have a direct impact on who gets out to vote and what conditions will interfere with that. For Nov. 6th voting, it is not out of the question that some areas could still be dealing with power outages that could impact the ability of polls to open as usual.
So once again Joe seems to be more interested in entertaining his audience with his stupid antics than in helping people understand that if they are in the path of this storm, they should be paying attention and preparing for it. Three days on your own (food, water and shelter) can be a long time if you are not ready for it. And power disruptions can and do often go for longer than 3 days.

(63,912 posts)I, too, am in CT and worried about the storm. We were out of electricity for days last year. Luckily, we have a gas stove so we were able to get the burners on with a match. The public works and storm response team seem better prepared this year so maybe we'll have downed trees cleared (and electricity restored) sooner this time. I think Gov. Malloy will knock himself outt to see to it the state is well prepared.

(25,415 posts)And Bush was not at 51% like he claims. In fact, Bush was polling practically the same as Obama was:
Per Real Clear Politics:
Obama Oct 25th 2012:
49.3 Approve
47.3 Disapprove
SPREAD
+2.0
Bush Nov 02, 2004:
49.5 Approve
46.8 Disapprove
SPREAD
+2.7
These pundits do not do their homework. It is sad when I know more then these fools.
bama_blue_dot
(224 posts)I haven't been big on Real Clear Politics lately.. They still probably haven't added in that VA poll showing Obama +5..

(10,857 posts)I don't think President Obama's job approval ratings have ever gone below 40% for a sustained period of time, and as far as I know he has never been upside-down on job approval for any sustained period of time, either (Mitt Romney has generated more negative numbers than positive ones for most of this year).
GWB, as you will recall, spent years below 40% job approval and by the end was in the high 20s.
Those then are fantastic numbers for President Obama, particularly when one considers this president doesn't hide behind the flag or wars, doesn't batter the public with terror warnings every time someone on his team faces indictment, isn't following a "never tell the truth" policy with the press, and is taking more responsibility than he probably should for poor performance, apparently in an effort to shield Democratic Senators from misguided punishment from voters for Republican obstructionism.

(971 posts)That shows Romney up three points nationally. Didn't say that Obama was up in most of the swing state polls.
