10. Rmoney's plan was to to bailout bankers, VCs and Hedge Funds...

There was a video clip early on in which Rmoney claimed the President did exactly what he had recommended...except O used government money, and that was the problem.

Rmoney's version was to let GM go through a traditional restructuring, as many companies have done, and have private funding provide the funds. When reminded that liquidity in the debt markets (critical to a successful restructuring) was absolutely zero, he responded "I would use government guarantees for those loans to make that work".

So let's summarize Mitt's plan...

I won't give money to GM. I will guarantee private loans. If GM succeeds, those private loans will reap great profits for those private lenders. If GM fails, I will use taxpayer money to make those lenders whole so they don't lose any money.

Let's see...all profit and no risk. What could go wrong. Another great example of privatizing profits and socializing losses.

And who says Republicans are against redistribution.

18. Romney didn't want the automakers to fail.

He wanted the autoworkers to fail. Not just the UAW, but every trade union that serves the auto industry.

Romney stated clearly that he believed the companies would be seen as desirable to investors if the automakers would shred it's union contracts and rid themselves of "legacy costs" (aka my pension).

The problem is Mitt Romney was wrong. GM and Chrysler would not see the money needed to save them from liquidation due to the recession, and would have been dissolved and sold off piecemeal. GM even tried and failed to sell the then popular Hummer brand (with no strings attached). Penske made some half hearted offer, but couldn't find the investors in the end.
