Independent Investigation Confirms Sanders Campaign Told the Truth
APRIL 29, 2016
BURLINGTON, Vt. Four months ago, in an impulsive overreaction and at a critical point in the campaign just weeks before the closest Iowa caucus results in history, the DNC shut down the Sanders campaigns access to its own voter file data, only restoring access after the campaign filed a lawsuit in Federal court.
Now, four months later, an independent investigation of the firewall failures in the DNCs shared voter file database has definitively confirmed that the original claims by the DNC and the Clinton campaign were wholly inaccurate the Sanders campaign never stole any voter file data; the Sanders campaign never exported any unauthorized voter file data; and the Sanders campaign certainly never had access to the Clinton campaigns strategic road map.
In fact, the independent investigation has confirmed what the Sanders campaign said from the start:
* The DNCs security failures allowed four Sanders campaign staffers three junior-level staffers led by a manager who had been hired at the recommendation of the DNC and who was immediately terminated after the incident to have extremely short-lived access for one hour to Hillary for Americas scoring models, but not to any of Hillary for Americas proprietary voter data.
* No one else in the Sanders campaign, outside these four staffers, accessed the Hillary for Americas scoring models or had knowledge that the activity was taking place until well after the incident was over.
* With one exception, all unauthorized access took place within the DNCs own system. While there is evidence that the terminated staffer may have exported a summary data table, the independent investigation of Sanders campaign computers could not locate that file and no one in the Sanders campaign has ever seen that file.
With the investigation behind us, the campaign has withdrawn its lawsuit against the DNC today but continues to implore the DNC to address the systemic instability that remains in its voter file system. It is imperative that the DNC make it a top priority to prevent future data security failures in the voter file system, failures that only serve as unnecessary distractions to the democratic process.
Bernie Sanders Campaign Manager Jeff Weaver said We are gratified by the results of this independent investigation.

Hillary's attacks and accusations are typically fact free. And about as tasty and nourishing as the above.

(68,556 posts)is a person who wants to be convinced. The DNC found that Bernie campaign folks accessed Hillary's data in 11 states. No one else did this... Friday dump about the lawsuit being withdrawn followed. It does not exonerate Sanders which is why he dropped the lawsuit.

Bernie Sanders is a lying sack about this. And it truly makes me glad I never supported him for President. I use to like him. But this primary opened my eyes to who he really is.

We are in the double digits with respect to the Sanders campaign spinning it in releases. Look at who signed it. Weaver. He is using it to desperate people from their money.

(68,556 posts)We have lists provided by the Party...they say 'Democrat': not Sanders voter or Clinton voter. What Bernie's folks took was the data collected by boots on the ground... the only way to determine who they are supporting is to ask. Have any of you ever volunteered to help Democrats win elections? A fair number of People keep their original party but have actually changed their opinions...I ran into GOP types still registered as Democrats from years ago ...canvassing helps eliminate these folks so you don't waste time later on them...the critical time just before the vote. We also found GOP types that were now Democrats. Those are trickier to find because calling on Republicans is not a fun job. Many are rude and obnoxious...I have been threatened by some. If you saw the hard work that goes into electing Democrats, perhaps you would not be so quick to judge the party (I mean Bernie voters in general not you in particular). The people I have worked with have been decent committed people who really care. When Sherrod Brown ran in 12, he was a particular target of Koch ET AL...very strong liberal. We worked our butts off for this campaign...to identify our voters and get them out. That is what you do...and I am very offended by this new group of Bernie campaign types who want an entirely new Congress..what Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown are not good enough for these folks? Well maybe if they do the heavy lifting...they will begin to understand the process and how hard it is.

Note that this DOES NOT say that no one else in the Sanders campaign has read or had/has access to the data that was stolen. Only that only the 4 thieves accessed the data or knew they were doing it.

(42,862 posts)It sounds like a bunch of non-excuses that you'd typically hear from a slacker emo teenager who left his book report at home. Which wouldn't matter anyway because he'd only read the Cliff Notes instead of the actual book and STILL never bothered to write anything.
If you anyone ever needs an example of WHY Bernie lost ... look no further ... it's shit like that that keeps them from making progress. They are their own worst enemies and it's why they'll always be on the fringe.

(68,556 posts)Your post is very misleading:
http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/29/politics/bernie-sanders-dnc-lawsuit-voter-database/
"A DNC investigation, the results of which were also released Friday, concluded that the wrongdoing did not go beyond the four Sanders staffers who accessed the database and were fired soon after the incident came to light".
"The Sanders team ran multiple searches in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina and about 10 March states, including Florida and Colorado, after it noticed the error. One of the data sets it accessed was a Clinton spreadsheet that ranked voters' enthusiasm -- a potential opportunity for Sanders' campaign to target voters who were hesitant to support the former secretary of state".
Only Bernie staffers did this and Clinton and O'Malley were not involved and did not exploit the computer glitch. The DNC was right to stop access until it determined what happened...Bernie was not exonerated...it was revealed that his staff did exactly what they were accused of...he apologized in December, and he needed to.

XERXES: The aqueduct?
REG: What?
XERXES: The aqueduct.
REG: Oh. Yeah, yeah. They did give us that. Uh, that's true. Yeah.
COMMANDO #3: And the sanitation.
LORETTA: Oh, yeah, the sanitation, Reg. Remember what the city used to be like?
REG: Yeah. All right. I'll grant you the aqueduct and the sanitation are two things that the Romans have done.
MATTHIAS: And the roads.
REG: Well, yeah. Obviously the roads. I mean, the roads go without saying, don't they? But apart from the sanitation, the aqueduct, and the roads--
COMMANDO: Irrigation.
XERXES: Medicine.
COMMANDOS: Huh? Heh? Huh...
COMMANDO #2: Education.
COMMANDOS: Ohh...
REG: Yeah, yeah. All right. Fair enough.
COMMANDO #1: And the wine.
COMMANDOS: Oh, yes. Yeah...
FRANCIS: Yeah. Yeah, that's something we'd really miss, Reg, if the Romans left. Huh.
COMMANDO: Public baths.
LORETTA: And it's safe to walk in the streets at night now, Reg.
FRANCIS: Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let's face it. They're the only ones who could in a place like this.
COMMANDOS: Hehh, heh. Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh.
REG: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
XERXES: Brought peace.
REG: Oh. Peace? Shut up!
