(643 posts)Look at the responses to this paragraph in the OP. That anyone thinks this is not a big deal, or really a deal-breaker, speaks volumes to the direction that this party has shifted. The posts that try to claim that HRC is in some way remotely progressive is laughable. And pretty damn insulting.
Sparkly
(24,162 posts)Sorry if the truth insults you.
casperthegm
(643 posts)But I don't expect you to agree. What I'd be curious to know is, if by remote chance, this actually was close to what she said, how would this affect your view of her?
Sparkly
(24,162 posts)I don't believe it is a "close approximation."
casperthegm
(643 posts)But my question remains; If she had said something along those lines, would that change your opinion of her?

(643 posts)It is a pretty chart, I'll give you that. Can you tell me where on the chart we'd find Clinton's support for fracking? How about her support for trade deals that send our jobs overseas? How about the plot on the chart that shows her support for a no fly zone in Syria? Or the speeches to Wall Street, money from super pacs, opposition to free college for all, opposition to Glass Steagall, and opposition to healthcare for all?
Where exactly do all of those things fall on that pretty chart?

(3,089 posts)to get around income requirement knew exactly what they were doing...lying to themselves and legal requirements. Sometimes people who know right from wrong need to accept responsibility for their actions. However, if you signed fake documents and unknowingly signed illegal documents those handling your transactions are mostly to blame. Hillary said there was enough blame to go around but the video was conveniently cut at the point where she was going to identify the others to blame. Nice try!
The real damage came as those mortgages were bundled and re-sold and re-bundled and re-sold so that your mortgage ended up god knows where. That is what crashed the markets and hurt the pension funds and others who relied on those inflated deals.

(55,745 posts)C-SPAN aired Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's remarks at the Peter G. Peterson Institute. Pete Peterson made billions as a private equity underwriter (PEU). He used $1 billion to establish his institute, focused on getting America's financial house of cards in order (without asking corporations or the rich to step up in any major way.)
America believes government cannot do anything competently, thus the private sector is the answer. That goes for international development.

That requires partners. Giants of philanthropy gathered in New York in 2009. This list included Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Pete Peterson, George Soros, David Rockefeller, and Oprah Winfrey.

Clinton stated in her talk:

She mentioned the Clinton Foundation as a partner. President Bill Clinton privatized government functions during his two terms, benefiting multiple private equity underwriters.

Octafish
(55,745 posts)That is what Ms. Clinton said. No cut and paste, no "flat out deceitful propaganda" other than cutting what she actually said.
You want propaganda? It's like what Ronald Reagan said: "Uh. Well. The business of America is business."

(24,162 posts)Where there is need, foundations bring aid. Money seeks opportunities for investment. When capital is invested in areas of need, it benefits communities.

(47,803 posts)If her speeches were truly innocuous, she is showing very poor political judgement in not just releasing them. It leads to such dark speculation, and assumptions that she must have something to hide in them.
They're not state secrets or anything. And her reasons for keeping them secret don't hold water.....She complains a special standard is being applied. -- Well, no other candidate made millions of dollars for speeches to banksters and big corporations just before running for president.
. Peope have a right to know what is in them since she is running for president.

(22,666 posts)IOW she blames the consumers whose votes she now wants for the 2008 derivatives crash.
We can detract from the issue of her blaming consumers for the 2008 crash instead of properly and appropriately blaming big banks and Wall St. - by grousing about what may be a made up quote saying the same thing SHE DID SAY in the video at the link (is that fake too?) only using different words.
OK. So. Grouse.
