Clinton Reneges on Debate, Sanders Brands Back Out Insulting to Californians
MAY 23RD, 2016
SANTA MONICA, Calif. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday called Hillary Clintons decision to renege on a commitment to debate him in California insulting to the one in eight Americans who live in the nations largest state.
Sanders spoke about Clinton backing out of the debate during an address to 6,750 supporters who filled a football field at Santa Monica High School.
A number of months ago our campaign and her campaign reached an agreement on a number of debates, including one here in California, Sanders told the crowd. He was referring to commitments each campaign agreed to last winter to add debates to a schedule set by the Democratic National Committee.
Sanders said it was insulting to the people of California our largest state that she is not prepared to have a discussion with me about how we address the major crises we face.
Sanders remarks capped a day when he continued to campaign from rally to rally across Southern California ahead of the June 7 primary contest with 475 pledged delegates at stake.
Sanders expressed confidence about his prospects in California over Clinton. Theyve been very nervous lately and I dont want to get them more nervous but were going to win here in California, he said.
In addition to California, there are contests on the same day in Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota. In those states, Sanders hopes to extend a recent winning streak that so far has put 20 states in his win column.
Sanders said his campaign has been propelled by excitement and energy that could carry Democrats to victory in November. He cited a surge this year in new voters in California, where Mondays deadline for registration was expected to see some 2 million voters sign up according to projections by Political Data Inc. Voter registration here in California among young people and working people is off the charts, Sanders said.

And here is that report from the WP:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2016/02/03/its-on-looks-like-were-getting-four-more-democratic-debates/
The campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have agreed on a rough schedule for four new debates over the next few months, according to various sources, a move that shows the Democratic primary is now set to shift into a higher gear and signals we may be headed for a long, drawn-out battle
...
The first of these will be tomorrow night in New Hampshire, to air on MSNBC. The second will be in Flint, Michigan (as Hillary Clinton has requested) in March; the third will be in Pennsylvania in April, and the fourth will be in California in May, a source close to the talks confirms.
The one in NH was the one Clinton was desperate to have, because she was sinking in the polls. Now don't give me nonsense about Clinton not personally agreeing to four more debates. Sanders didn't personally agree either. This was two campaign teams and the DNC agreeing to more debates, in such a way that both candidates would benefit from the increased exposure. For Clinton to walk out of the agreement now is to be faithless. Callous. And unworthy of someone who wants to lead the USA.
"sorry, Vladimir. I know we agreed on more peace talks about Syria, but I feel that it is better to walk out right now and leave you and Tayyip to figure it out by yourselves." - rather not, right? If she can't handle a conversation with Sanders, she definitely shouldn't handle a conversation with ungentlemanlike cronies like those two.
and one more:

Its pretty clear why Clinton is suddenly eager to debate more often. When she had a massive lead in national polls, a limited schedule (only six debates, compared to 12 on the GOP side) seemed to serve her interests; fewer debates meant fewer chances for her challengers to disrupt the status quo. Now that she finds herself trying to fend off a surprisingly formidable Sanders, who nearly beat her on Monday in Iowa, Clinton is the one looking for new opportunities to shift the momentum. That, and it's a format that favors her more so than Sanders.

"In a Wednesday afternoon statement, Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said the Vermont senator has accepted an invitation from Fox News to debate "with the understanding that we can reach mutual agreement on the debate moderators, the format and other details.
Weaver said both campaigns in January agreed to hold a debate in May in California, adding that the Clinton campaign has balked at keeping that pledge.
More than half way through the month of May, we hope Secretary Clinton will soon make good on her campaigns commitment and agree to a time and pace for a debate, Weaver said in the statement.
There are issues of enormous importance facing the people of California and our nation and the people of our largest state deserve to hear the Democratic candidates [sic] opinions."

First, I doubt that "both campaigns in January agreed" to debate in California in May, and I am CERTAIN that the Clinton campaign didn't agree to allow Sanders to choose who would conduct the debate.

Also, anyone running for President should be willing to campaign for 'every single vote, anytime, anywhere'!
Did she evolve on that now, too - like almost everything else?
