As long as they are submitted by 8 pm Tuesday. How will this work? Hmm.

(44,974 posts)What else can they do? Obviously they still have not recovered, and a lot of people are not in their precinct to go vote.

I would love to see this happen, but did not realize that technology had been developed to facilitate it at this point.

(2,237 posts)Washington DC had a trial period for online voting, and invited hackers to try to hack into the system.
A Michigan college professor and 4 or 5 of his students successfully hacked into it, and tried to be REALLY obvious about it (such as making the website play their college's anthem after you submitted a vote), and it still took them two whole days to realize that they were hacked, and only when one of the test voters reported to them that it seemed odd the music that was playing after they submitted their vote.
The hackers even turned the security cameras around the servers hosting the online voting against them, and knew without even being contacted or Washington DC announcing it that they had discovered the hacking when they saw everyone running around looking really nervous, compared to being so calm and laid back before.
Bottom line, online voting has the same risks as electronic voting machines without paper trails, but worse.

It normally is not a good idea, but this is an emergency.
