U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup rules from the bench that plaintiffs made absolutely no showing of a violation of federal law
SAN FRANCISCO (June 1, 2016)A federal judge in San Francisco delivered a blistering rejection to a bid by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders presidential campaign for an emergency court order that would have imposed significant eleventh hour requirements on elections officials in Californias June 7 Presidential Primary.
U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup described allegations by plaintiffs counsel as hot air shortly before ruling verbally from the bench, colorfully noting that theres not a single decision in the history of the universe equating plaintiffs alleged facts with a violation of the U.S. Constitutions Equal Protection Clause. Alsup added that plaintiffs made absolutely no showing of a violation of federal law.
Im gratified by the courts ruling, which strongly affirms what we said from the beginning: that literally every violation these plaintiffs alleged was inaccurate, said San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera. I think its unfortunate that plaintiffs proceeded with litigation, even after we took time to demonstrate that their case had no basis in reality. Well never know for sure if this lawsuit was just a political stunt, but I think Judge Alsup summed it up well in two words: hot air.......................

(154,021 posts)but this has been an issue for a while in this state. Solutions have been proposed over the years. This is not a new issue. and the Independent party has sued a few times. And they also have been involved in some really funny lawsuits, such as keeping McCaain off the ballot in 2008 since well he was born in the Panama Canal Zone

They are actually always disgruntled. But this lawsuit. it is not a new issue. I know this might come as a surprise to you. I would rather prefer that all forms are so clear, that it is hard to miss. For example. AIP bubble, wiht a nice RED BOLD LETTERS, this is not a decline to state voter.
For example here is the DMV form...
Now if you are unaware, and most people are, that California has an independent party, you understand the confusion. and why people are not idiots?
