(46,585 posts)Here's how it's done: Make them vote on provisional ballots and then throw those ballots out.
Election-rigging: Not just by Republicans anymore.

(92,395 posts)from the stupid lawsuits regarding NPP registration. Anyone who read the voter pamphlet that was sent to all people who registered, the rules are spelled out very clearly, and California runs one of the best and most flexible voting in the country

(92,395 posts)news source has reported this, Election Justice US, the same group that has been calling election fraud for states that Sanders lost.
The OP's link is not a reliable source
and in California ALL BALLOTS ARE COUNTED, including provisional
still_one
(92,395 posts)story is accurate. No ballot is thrown away
Q: Are vote-by-mail and provisional ballots always counted even in "landslide" elections?
A: Yes, every valid ballot returned to county elections officials by 8:00 p.m. on election day is counted in every election, regardless of the ballot type or the margin in any particular contest.

(10,156 posts)by a trustworthy friend who works at the county registrar's office on election days: they all get counted. After all, we have multiple elections going on, and some of them get very, very tight.

(92,395 posts)they registered as NPP, and never got a Democratic ballot. If someone registers as NPP, and they received a non-partisan ballot, on election day they can go to the polling place and exchange it for a Democratic ballot. As I said, California is one of the most flexible states in the country when it comes to voting
Retrograde
(10,156 posts)Of course, I made sure I returned the postcard my county registrar sent asking which ballot I wanted before the deadline, and since I remember the George Wallace campaign there's not danger of me signing up as AIP. And I take the time to read the friendly voter's guide the state takes the trouble to sent out. But then I've always been a nerd.
I'm surprised there haven't more complaints in California about people's party affiliations being mysteriously changed. There were two DUers who claimed it happened to them, one in Iowa, the other in New York. The former, upon further prodding, admitted that yes, she did register as Republican in 2012 "to see how they did things" but she was sure she switched back - until someone dug up contemporary posts where she admitted she hadn't - "but really was going to after the election". So I read it more as individual confusion/misremembering rather than a big plot. Don't know enough about the New York case to comment.
Bottom line: RTFM.

(92,395 posts)If you were sent the wrong ballot, and you are registered as NPP, you can exchange it for a Democratic ballot up to and on election day in California.

So you believe the OP, which I question its source, and then you spew out a false-hood regarding provisional ballots.
That sounds about right

That's the earliest the state said it was possible.

(92,395 posts)have had over a year to register. What a lame excuse with the implication that it was the "establishment" that prevented someone from registering.
They could have registered online, through the DMV, or requested a voter registration form by calling the voter hotline. There are other ways too.
It's everyone else's fault, but the person who had over a year to register

(13,431 posts)What, if anything, could have spurred them to register at any point during the past year, or the during past four months when 44 other states voted and the entire media has focused only on the campaign for all of 2016 so far?

(92,395 posts)requirements to implement the law until 2016 or later. The date now is 2018 according to a post above. Regardless, people had plenty of time to register, and in fact did, which is why there has been significant new registrations.
Anyone who didn't register in this election wasn't because there wasn't same day registration
I think the benefit of same day registration is more about the party your registered for and it makes mistakes, by either the individual or the SOS, correctable. People have made mistakes while registering but there have also been people who have changed parties without trying. It's not just lazy people that are too stupid to register within the allowable window. I'd think any American voter, that's not running for office, should want the same thing, to make voting easiest as possible. If part of winning is people making mistakes registering, that's something that shouldn't be celebrated, regardless of which candidate wins.

There are checks done to confirm that the person is registered to vote in that county, and that they did not already vote in that election.

(24,544 posts)ie "people not paying attention to the rules and then screaming bloody murder afterwards" has been done. The governor is "rigging" everything in favor of Clinton, check. And "none of this is fair because why should only Democrats be allowed to vote for the Democratic nominee?" and "none of this is fair because voting on the weekend/Tuesdays/sunny days is hard" are both checks too.
So I think last on this list is "Bernie lost because of space aliens", vote machines being "rigged" and the Bill Clinton/Loch Ness Monster appearance that's scheduled at several polling places on election day so that no one will notice the Sanders ballots being stuffed into Hefty bags and tossed into the Pacific. All systems are go!

1 Summary
This report summarizes the results of our review of the GEMS election management system, which counts approximately 25 percent of all votes in the United States. The results of this study demonstrate that a fractional vote feature is embedded in each GEMS application which can be used to invisibly, yet radically, alter election outcomes by pre-setting desired vote percentages to redistribute votes. This tampering is not visible to election observers, even if they are standing in the room and watching the computer. Use of the decimalized vote feature is unlikely to be detected by auditing or canvass procedures, and can be applied across large jurisdictions in less than 60 seconds.
GEMS vote-counting systems are and have been operated under five trade names: Global Election Systems, Diebold Election Systems, Premier Election Systems, Dominion Voting Systems, and Election Systems & Software, in addition to a number of private regional subcontractors. At the time of this writing, this system is used statewide in Alaska, Connecticut, Georgia, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Utah and Vermont, and for counties in Arizona, (upcoming) California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. It is also used in Canada.
