Rachel criticized Clinton's use of the term 'girl' in talking about their college years. Others thought his speech was too much about him.

About him? That wasn't my impression the entire speech.

In those college days, his term was completely appropriate. What is so insulting about that? If he had continued using the term as he proceeded through the years, then that's something to talk about. But he did not.

Really, sometimes I just don't get it with the MSNBC folk.

Clinton's purpose was to present the human side of Hillary as someone who has been completely dedicated to the less fortunate and people who are different. I thought he did a masterful job of that.

On Carson's show Steinberg said, "I'm a comedian. That's what I do--I tell jokes about my life and my observations. What am I supposed to say--"A funny thing happened to YOUR wife on the way to the theater' "?

People want to know more than just her resume. They want to know her character, and also petty details. I loved how bold she was with him at the library. I suspect Rachel can't understand a boy pursuing a girl in 1971 because unlike most of Hillary's contemporaries at the time, Hillary was a woman who wanted more than just to become a wife. It is what made her attractive to Bill.

Rachel has grown up in a different world and has had different life experiences and simply can't relate.

I am a middle-aged man who also fell in love with a woman who was independent and didn't NEED a man. I can relate to Bill's experience. I got it.

Rachel obviously didn't.

101. Joy basically said Bill wasn't speaking to Rachel.
Tue Jul 26, 2016, 11:51 PM
Jul 2016

He was talking to married white, middle-aged suburban women who went for Mitt Romney by over 14+ points. They are trying to win those women to the Clinton ticket. Bill's gift is to get people to pay attention and listen, even if they don't want to. Bill was re-framing the narrative about Hillary, talking about her as a wife and as a mom. Basically saying Hillary isn't the cartoon you think she is -- she's a woman, just like you. Bill was essentially making a pitch to that demographic to take another look at Hillary.

I think her "getting it" on twitter is just a symptom of what she's slowly becoming over these past several months. I don't watch MSNRNCTMZ nearly as much as I used to, but do tune in from time to time because I do like watching a few commentators over there. Rach used to be one of them, but with the lean right of that station, I'm guessing Rach got her "marching orders" that she REALLY needs to start leaning more to the right

It's all about him, she says. Well, WTF, he's her husband and he's not supposed to talk about stuff only a husband knows? She sounded like an idiot.

119. Rachel Maddow didn't understand the target audience for Bill Clinton's speech.

Normally Rachel is quite adapt and smart at understanding the overall political reasoning for events. Here she completely missed the boat. I think she could not relate to the speech since it was directed at older men to help them understand Hillary. Bill Clinton had to use words and terms that would effectively allow this target audience to listen. I am disappointed that Rachel let her views over rule her reasoning on what is actually taking place on that convention room floor.

Hillary Clinton is going after the 50 and older men's vote and using her husband to appeal to them to consider voting for her.

Rachel Maddow shame on you for missing that bit of political drama.

It resonated for my husband, their intended audience, and he thought it was really good. He didn't know she did all of those things. It was perfect!

She had her marching orders apparently.
