Why Trump Supporters Think He'll Win

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/07/backing-donald-trump/493619/

This quote from the article is very telling.

“Obama in the Oval Office was humiliating enough. But Hillary will be worse: We’re going to lose any idea at all that leadership is a man’s job.”

At least for that supporter, the sexism is stronger than the racism.

Shirley Chisholm said “Of my two handicaps, being female put many more obstacles in my path than being black.”

There was a poll within the last week: Clinton is winning the well educated. But the gender gap there is still disgusting. She won post-grad women by 32% and post-grad men by 8%.

If Trump wins...it is the fault of the frail males who can’t share equally, who can’t acknowledge women’s accomplishments and skills. What are we doing wrong when we raise our children....that the males can continue to view women as the lesser. This is not the 1930's where women were merely decorative and nothing without a spouse.

I have a husband of almost 30 years and two sons that I adore and 3 brothers that I can't imagine my life without. I am not a man-hater.

But there is something very wrong.

1. The convention showed the double standard between women and men in an amazing way.

An amazing woman (and I say that as somebody who is not a fan) gets to the nomination and a large part of speeches by her family and friends was about how she was a good mother.

I cannot think of a male candidate in the past who spent time on the issue of whether he was a good father (may be a few sentence, but not a large section of 3 speeches -Bill, Chelsea and Hillary).

But we may put a woman in the White House, this does not mean sexism does not exist, just that the fact Obama was elected does not mean that make racism disappear.

As somebody from MA, I am not surprised. We had two women running for governor and both lost to rich white men. Of course, those women were blamed by a largely male audience as being bad campaigners, but from conversation I had, it was clear that many men could not see a woman in the corner office.

In Chelsea's introduction when she said no matter what my mother is doing...she takes time each day to facetime with her granddaughter I was literally afraid that some people would view that poorly.

I am used to women being in charge. And there are tens of millions like me. Don't worry. We got this.

5. I know there are many good men...who are less biased

but we see the biases in so many parts of our lives that it feels hopeless at time.

The judge who thought that a longer jail sentence would be too much impact on the Stanford swimmer...whereas clearly the poor raped woman could just deal with it.

The unmitigated abuse to women on the internet if they dare do anything in the male realm whether it is be a gamer or talk about sports or whatever

The wage gap

The sexism even in tech companies which while they have some gray beards are dominated by young males.

It feels hopeless at times

I think she went with Tim Kaine vs Warren. I think he needs to be with her at certain campaign stops.

A friend in a southern state is always going on about all the white people hating her. She thinks only minorities support her because her white friends say they'll only vote for Trump (true or not). She'll see in a few months how wrong she is.

8. Yes, it's quite telling. Primarily because it's not a 'quote', it's something he made up.

It's his paraphrasing of what he claims are Trump voters, mixed in with his own little bit of snark that apparently no liberal writer still breathing is capable of leaving out anymore. It's like literally every news journalist has become 15 again. However, I digress...

At either rate, he actually nails it pretty spot on. Problem is...he's nailed it pretty spot on. And the ONLY reason the numbers aren't rising faster is because most people are too busy to take the time to listen to the Trump supporters, because that message sells around here. It's a whole different world out here than what I read about here on DU. They ARE a minority for now, they WILL become more and more tribalist (which, as I've pointed out repeatedly, was the intended effect of all the anti-white talk; good job, team.), and they WILL gain more recruits as they use the RfR against us. It's the nature of cycles, and the cycle of polarization guarantees it will continue to happen that way unless something catastrophic comes along to end the cycle, like a grandfather clock being knocked to the floor.

Other than the silly snark parts, that could have been any single Trump voter I've met. And I've met a LOT of them ('lot' being a relative term related to my own social experience, which is not a huge-gathering type thing. IE, to me 'a lot' is like 100 or so, not some ginormous number).

And I'm certainly not the most educated white man in the world either. But I am absolutely sure that trump can never ever be President of these here United States. And I think Barack Obama has done a pretty good job, in spite of everything.
