2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThis is interesting. I wonder why.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/bernie-sanders-plans/story?id=41002081Well, at least he bothered to endorsed her. I guess that's something. But, I kinda figured that would be the extent of his contribution. Maybe he'll campaign for/with her. Who knows?

on edit.. you guys are total -- oops, new rules, can't say it.

Which side are you on?
Never mind, don't answer. But go on believing.

(15,429 posts)He'll probably run for office one more time and that will be that.
His list may end up being a legacy for his son. Levi, to use to build a political career. Who knows.
There are far more important things to worry about than this, though.

(18,265 posts)the last time he ran for Senate. He may be reluctant to share his list because he doesn't want to rely on DSCC money when he runs for reelection.

(42,862 posts)I just find it odd that his enthusiasm seems to have suddenly cooled at a rate that is inconsistent with all that we had previously been led to believe.
But that's okay. Either something has changed, or I totally misread his intentions and sincerity. Probably the latter, I'm not very good at reading people. My expectations were out of line and it's my fault for being overly optimistic.
The Democratic Party and Hillary's campaign will be fine ... no biggie ... it's just my disappointment talking.
#StrongerTogether and all that.

(5,865 posts)generous endorsement. New rules prohibit me from unloading but man, I already have buyers romorse with some of the smack some folks dish out around here.

(4,187 posts)And I suspect you do, too. Site rules prevent me from saying any more than that.
The good news is that Hillary is strong and has a ton of support. She's got this.

(42,862 posts)... using it himself to fund-raise on Hillary's behalf seems reasonable.
But, it is what it is. It's my fault and I'm to blame for expecting too much and getting my hopes too high.
I'll know better next time.
But for now, we'll move forward on our own.
#StrongerTogether
#TogetherForever (I know, it's a Rick Astley song... but the hashtag seems appropriate anyway.)

(8,541 posts)Right?
Bernie stayed true to his word. Would it be nice for team Hillary to have help on fundraising? Sure.
"But, it is what it is. It's my fault and I'm to blame for expecting too much and getting my hopes too high.

Come on now. We both know what's up with that comment.
As always... It's been nice chatting

(42,862 posts)... I thought he was going to do more. Clearly, I was wrong.
Oh well. Now we know.
That's life. That's politics.

(5,865 posts)your #strongertogether hashtag is laughable. Keep it up and people will go green.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)... but I like it.
Because mature voters make their voting decisions based on comments from anonymous users on discussion web sites, eh?

(93 posts)And as genuinely as she did for Obama when she lost to ensure that we didn't have to endure McCain/Palin for 4 or more years. That is all.

(4,447 posts)I just donated $27 to Hillary. I meant it to send a reminder that Bernie supporters are important to the campaign, but I'm with her. And yes, I've been for Hillary, but I think we need to be much more together. There are still far too many of us, both Hillary and Bernie supporters, who are taking deep offense at slights that are either small or incorrectly inferred.
So Bernie didn't provide his email list? Well, it's his list to provide or not provide! And we all know that Hillary's going to have the most intensive campaign organization we've seen. So I don't look at Bernie's list as something that could tip the scales one way or another, and I am therefore just fine with his decision.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)But it's interesting to see what his limits are, where he draws the line, and his commitment level. Less than I expected, but that's on me.

(30,481 posts)This is his email list. If he wishes to use it to solicit funds for Clintons election that is his choice. If he gives it to her or sells it to her it is going to piss a lot of people of. In this cycle I can understand this.

(6,544 posts)Since anybody on his list that wants to move to HRC probably already has, and those that haven't won't want to anyway.
athena
(4,187 posts)There are probably many people on that list who only got interested in politics because of Bernie's candidacy and will not vote in the general election. Anyone who has volunteered on a campaign knows how valuable these lists are.

(1,997 posts)Things keep changing, and people move on. His best bet to continue his popular streak is to go all in with Hillary. It's the old adage of tying yourself to a winner.

(4,762 posts)Despite his protestations to the contrary it was largely personality-driven.
There is no far left movement in this county because the far left is not interested in coalition building or compromise.
Our way or the highway. We saw it in Phladelphia. And most of us rolled our eyes.

(42,862 posts)Perhaps the trade-off or possible risks don't matter. It's hard to know for sure what he's thinking. Despite my surprise and disappointment, I can't know for sure ... only time will tell if he's made a smart decision or whether it was a myopic one.
Mr Maru
(216 posts)Standard politician fare.
He may still need some more time, he may just need to keep some things for himself.
He worked pretty hard to develop that list. If he needs to keep something, meh?
I think we'll be fine, and enough of his donors will pitch in, either way.

(704 posts)It seems so obvious. There is no other reason for this post than to sew division. Primary is over. All this accomplishes is division.
And who is best served by that?
But keep going. By all means.
