Hillary Clinton Raised About $90 Million in July for HFA and the Democratic Party54 Percent of Contributions Came from New Donors
Hillary Clinton had her best fundraising month of the campaign in July, bringing in nearly $90 million for Hillary for America and the Democratic Party. Her campaign began August with more than $58 million in the bank. HFA's average donation for the month was just $44 and about 54 percent of donations in the month of July came from new donors.
"We come out of the Democratic National Convention with our party united and our supporters energized for the final 98 days of this campaign," said Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook. "Our goal for the next 98 days is to take the remarkable outpouring of support we saw as Hillary Clinton took the stage in Philadelphia and build on our efforts to organize and mobilize millions of voters to elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot in November."
HFA also saw its best 24-hour period for online fundraising of the campaign with more than $8.7 million coming in online between 8 pm on Thursday, July 28th and 8 pm on Friday, July 29th as Clinton addressed the Democratic National Convention and officially accepted the Democratic nomination.
About $63 million of the total raised was for Hillary for America while about $26 million was raised for the DNC and state parties across the country through the Hillary Victory Fund and the Hillary Action Fund.

Los Angeles (CNN) With so much discussion about the toxic influence of money on politics, Alexandra Pelosi's latest HBO documentary, "Meet the Donors: Does Money Talk?," could hardly be better timed or more relevant.
Concerns about money's influence in politics have gained steam since the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling in 2010, described as having "opened the campaign spending floodgates" and widely derided in progressive circles.
That said, Pelosi -- daughter to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and granddaughter of Tommy D'Alesandro, a congressman and mayor of Baltimore -- sounds a trifle unconvincing as she seeks to bring a certain gee-whiz quality to her chats with billionaires, who reveal a host of motivations for supporting candidates, from pure ideology to the thrill some achieve from rubbing elbows with politicians.
Pelosi opens with a scene from "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," noting that "big money" has "always been at the core of our democracy." She then proceeds to travel the country to put faces on those who finance campaigns, most of whom see their largesse as altruistic ("a very noble undertaking," as hedge fund manager Julian Robertson puts it) and virtuous.
