Given that, a major-party nominee who's polling too low to qualify for the debates if he or she was a minor-party candidate should be required to commit seppuku on stage at the beginning of the debate period and his or her party should not be allowed to choose a replacement.

It's a sad thing, however, that there's probably close to nothing Trump could do, short of maybe eating a baby on live TV, that will get him below 15%.
