2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI registered 5 people to vote tonight!
We went to high school football game and stood outside as people were coming in. The good news is 90% said they were registered.
The best one was a young woman who just turned 18. She was with a friend who said there was no way she was going to register and grabbed her friends hand and pulled he away. A couple of minutes later the one girl came running back and asked if she could register. She didn't let peer pressure stop her.
There were 4 of us and we netted 10 new voters. It was encouraging that so many said they were already registered. This is a very diverse community both ethnicity and economically.
It always makes me feel good when I can get someone registered. I have done this before and it felt good to get one in an outing but 5 was outstanding for me.
Get involved people, you will enjoy it.

(126 posts)I've been registering voters as well. I've run across a few who have said:
"Nah, I don't care. Whatever happens, happens."
"I'm older and my circumstances have never changed. Politicians have done nothing for me."
"I'm a Jehovah's Witness."
Stuff like that.

If you dont get involved it isn't going to get better. Some think it will get them selected for jury duty.
