Then someone here on DU remarked that Pence
did not look happy on that call. From there, it's
anyone's guess, but I'll stick with Trump throwing
a paranoid nuttie on his ambitious running mate.

(4,490 posts)I missed the first half of the debate, but I checked out a thread on another forum. First 15 minutes or so was "Man, I thought Kaine would be better at this." Then at the end "Is Pence setting himself up for 2020?" and "Wow, Pence through Trump under the bus." Like I mentioned in another thread, the two were playing completely different games with different goals. I've never seen any of Kaine's previous debates for governor, but his performance tonight was pretty much along the lines of what you want from your VP candidate, imo. It's kind of a bad sign when people start thinking the ticket should be flipped, lol.

(19,568 posts)Which is basically meaningless since he's so closely tethered to Trump in 2016. He will not be their "golden boy" in 2020, bank on it.
He's going to be a nobody if/when Trump loses. He just doesn't realize that yet. The GOP will be struggling to restructure after this bizarre election year, and Pence isn't going to come out bearing the clout he hopes he will.
He's damaged goods now, no matter what. He can't play the "I'm trying to contain the nutcase" hand and still support him. It won't work for him down the road. Trump is too toxic, and the GOP has to work to contain that toxicity.
If/when Trump goes down, so goes Pence. Well, excluding the potential future bankruptcy filing.

(5,611 posts)never get elected in 2020 (or any other year). People in Indiana loathe him, and he would not have won reelection for gov., which tells you everything.
