By Jason Easley on Thu, Oct 27th, 2016 at 5:35 pm
A Democratic super PAC is injecting millions of dollars into the Florida Senate race in a bid to retire Sen. Marco Rubio.
CNN reported that Harry Reids super PAC, the Senate Majority PAC, is injecting millions of dollars into the Florida Senate race to help Rep. Patrick Murphy in his bid to defeat Marco Rubio:
This afternoon Senate Majority PAC made a seven-figure transfer to Floridians for a Strong Middle Class, a Florida based Super PAC supporting Patrick Murphys campaign. The move comes hours after Senate Majority PAC announced a record fundraising haul $19.3 million covering the pre-general reporting period (October 1st thru 19th) that will be filed with the FEC today.
Democrats have been divided over the strategy for handling the Florida race. Sen. Chuck Schumer canceled future spending in Florida to direct resources into Senate races in North Carolina, Indiana, and Missouri. Reid sees an opportunity to knock out Rubio and eliminate him from presidential contention in 2020.

(50,986 posts)when I read your post that said the national committee was giving up on this race.
And now you give us this encouragement.
I'm glad they coughed up the cash and are putting it to good use against Rubio.

(171,059 posts)hope it's not too late; lots of folks have voted already, but I imagine lots, including myself, haven't. I am working the polls election day, so imagine I'll have some time.

(50,986 posts)Thank you for working the polls. And do't forget -- we're all voting six times for pets and dead people.

Even with Congress' light schedule, that was too much for little Marco.

That said it's really disgusting that that kind of money disappears like that for politicians.

(24,780 posts)That they use to make these decisions. If they thought they had half a chance they'd stay with it. That PAC obviously has a different opinion. Bottom line, Rubio wasn't supposed to run again which screwed everything up.

(7,596 posts)Hard to believe that they could have such radically different results than the public ones.
Well, if Rubio wins, whatever. I won't be happy about it but, as a Floridian, my motivation for wanting him gone has nothing to do with some fear that he'll run for president again. He's already exposed himself as a cowardly empty suit with no integrity to speak of. His resume will be just as weak by 2020 as it is now. He'll spend another two unremarkable years in the senate and then abandon the state yet again to launch another idiotic presidential bid. And then if he gets humiliated a second time, which is quite possible, his national ambitions will truly be over for good.

(15,262 posts)41.3% Patrick Murphy
45.5% Marco Rubio
1.4% Other
11.8% Undecided
Quinnipiac's poll with lowest undecideds 4% has a 2% spread, within margin of error.
On average, obviously so many undecideds and turnout will decide this one on election day. Odds still favor Rubio. GOTV will determine the outcome.

(81,238 posts)That was a real teeth-gritter there. At least we have a chance to short-circuit Rubio - who's only in it to have a platform from which to try another run for President.

(45,806 posts)don't have much money, but I sent Murphy $15 yesterday to help as much as I can. I don't live in l. so I can't vote for him. It's great to hear that the Dems changed their mind. Rubio is another nit head I'd love to see gone from politics. To those in Fl, remember when he dropped out of the primary, he said he WASN'T running for the Senate.. THAT'S how much he cares about working for YOU! Vote for Murphy and tell Rubio, thanks, but no. We don't want you OR need you as our Senator.

(1,325 posts)Trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - it's hard to be a Democrat sometimes. Watched the Dems abandon Wendy Davis in Texas and now were stuck with lil' bush 3.0 - Abbott who's a bigger meaner harder dipshit than bush or good hair Perry. Owning Florida for the Democrats is critical - the best way to get a Democratic Governor and more Congress critters on our side.

(23,097 posts)Rubio is so vulnerable with his horrible record of non-attendance in the Senate, yet Chuck pulls out all funds against Rubio pro Murphy. I'm really worried that he just doesn't have it in him to be an effective leader. Will he remove filibustering appointments f he's elected Majority Lead or will he let the SCOTUS and all appeals court vacancies languish because he's spineless? I suspect it will be the later, which will be really bad for our country.
