Between Bill and Hillary Clinton, we're looking at a combined 10-3 record in elections.

Not only that, even those three losses still turned out to be blessings in disguise.

In 1974, an unknown 28 year old law professor named Bill Clinton ran for a Congressional seat against an entrenched incumbent, John Paul Hammerschmidt. Hammerschmidt barely eaked out a victory, but Clinton's surprisingly close race catapulted him into a rising star in Arkansas politics.

In 1980, after having been elected the youngest governor in Arkansas history two years earlier, Bill Clinton lost to his challenger Frank White. Undeterred, he refused to exit the political scene and two years later, he defeated White and held the Governor's mansion for ten more years before he was elected President. Clinton's comeback against White helped build the reputation of Clinton as the "Comeback Kid," something that would help him in his rise to national politics.

In 2008, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton ran a hard-fought battle for the Democratic nomination but ultimately fell short. However, her main opponent, one Barack Obama, was considered a once-in-a-lifetime transformational type candidate. Rather than remain sour about the loss, Hillary chose to join her former adversary's administration as Secretary of State, thus helping to further bolster her credentials.

Every other race that Bill and Hillary Clinton have ran for--every other one--they have won.

Even those who despise them begrudgingly are forced to admit that they are masters at the game of politics. They do not roll over and capitulate against those obsessed with trying to destroy them. They are tough mamma jammas.

2016 is no different, and when all is said and done, I honestly expect to see the Clinton record improve to 11-3.

She did run for the nomination in 2008 and fell short.

But you are correct that in general elections she's undefeated.

Dating back all the way to 1974.

Bill's the first to admit he wouldn't have gone as far as he did without Hillary.
