(2,003 posts)You'd think she'd be shouting it from the rooftops!
She's never had any other qualms about bringing up the horrible, sexist treatment of women that Trump has partaken in. In fact, she was talking about it today in Florida. Yet, according to a former producer for the Jerry Springer Show with a long history of making outlandish claims against celebrities, we have allegations that Donald J. Trump, the GOP nominee for President, her primary opponent in a close race for the highest office in the land, VIOLENTLY RAPES PRE-TEEN GIRLS!!! And for a million bucks, the victim's publicist will let you watch a video account of her testimony!
Yet from the Hillary Clinton campaign, crickets...
I can't for the life of me understand why she's not interested in this game-changing bombshell?

(2,056 posts)Where the plaintiff has chosen to remain anonymous and not come forward publicly. That means no main stream media outlet has been able to interview the victim or witness to corroborate the story. Since they can't do that they can't talk about it unless they want to be sued for libel and lose. You can't throw this kind of accusation around without being able to corroborate that you did due diligence to investigate and interviewed the victim, which cannot be done in this case.

(15,438 posts)responsibility to "shout" this ugly case "from the rooftops" - since they're into that gossip/TMZ-style 'reporting' these days, not the Clinton Campaign's.
However, the Clinton Campaign have been out in force "shouting from the rooftops" Trump's ties to Russia, multiple servers used in order to remain in contact with a Russian Bank, Trump U Federal lawsuit, and the many, many other corruption allegations against him which are criminal cases, not civil cases. But the M$M are more interested in the nothing-burger letter from Comey.
That's the difference.

(62,444 posts)Oh, wait, I did not realize that your post was most likely sarcastic.
Yes, there are flashing red lights all over this anonymous unserved suit.

(62,444 posts)Or otherwise explain the rationale for writing to "the authorities" about an alleged crime committed in 1994?

(10,721 posts)What % of the electorate knows all about the "re-opening" of the FBI investigation of Clinton (staffer) emails?
Words can't describe how insane this all is.
NoGoodNamesLeft
(2,056 posts)You won't see anything. This is NOT a criminal case, unfortunately. It is a civil case. Anyone can file a civil case without any kind of proof at all. As a result, no respectable media company is going to touch this story with a ten foot pole UNLESS they can interview the victim. They HAVE to do that to show that they did their due diligence in reporting. Anything less could and would lead to a nasty lawsuit that the media company WOULD lose.

In fact, there are over 75 Ongoing legal battles involving Trump, but you wouldn't know it if you solely relied on America's crack media.

(108,996 posts)with the filing and filed it as a civil rights case.
This time around she has a lawyer -- but the case hasn't been served on Trump yet, so it's still not official.
pnwmom
(108,996 posts)It's a horrendous case, by the look of it. But it's never been legally served on Trump (or it hadn't been as of yesterday.) Until that happens this isn't real, legally speaking. Just a possible court date on the calendar IF it gets served.
And a previous version wasn't served -- just withdrawn. So anything could happen with this one.

(15,438 posts)But the difference in this case is that it's a civil case (seeking monetary damages) not a criminal case since the SOL for cases such as these has expired years ago when the Plaintiff was just 18 years young, I believe.
pnwmom
(108,996 posts)Previously, they had a date for a status conference on the calendar for October, but that one got cancelled because the plaintiff never served Trump, and then withdrew the lawsuit.
Then it got refiled. So I'd love for this to go ahead, but it's not real yet. Not till it's served.

(15,438 posts)being served, forcing the Plaintiff's attorneys to withdraw and refile, and do this over and over and over again.
Makes sense why the Clinton Campaign hasn't spoken about it, but it doesn't clear up why the M$M hasn't run with it, considering they needed MUCH LESS to propagate Comey's vague and ambiguous letter to Republican Ratface and his band of House witch-hunters.

(62,444 posts)Nobody has problems serving Trump. In NY, it can be done by first class mail.
The plaintiff was ordered to serve the scheduling order on Trump on October 4. A month has gone by and the plaintiff has not done so.
There are reasons for that.
This case was originally shopped around by a Jerry Springer producer who has claimed, among other things, that Kurt Cobain was murdered, and that he sold drugs to OJ Simpson on the day his estranged wife was murdered. It is a set of allegations by entirely anonymous parties which simply has been filed and not served on the defendant.

I read your posts in the other thread and found them illuminating.
Thank you. Perhaps others will get it eventually.

(62,444 posts)...is that anyone whose opinion is going to rest on a set of anonymous accusations with a shady backstory is in all likelihood not inclined to vote for Trump in the first place.
Alternatively, anyone who is told "Trump goes on trial for rape in December!" and believes it, is going to be a bit leery of whatever else that source told them, once they find out it's not true.
It's mind boggling.

(26,582 posts)I think to consider it serious the minimum requirement would be having the defendant served with court papers.
