Related: About this forumQuestion: Could the rape allegation backfire and galvanize Trump's base
like the FBI/Email "revelation" seems to have galvanized Clinton's base?
Thoughts?

Don't post a lot but I read quite a bit. And I'm nervous about this election. My question was legitimate, I wanted to see what others thought.

(13,466 posts)Nothing is going to change the opinions of his base, anything that comes out on him will be part of a conspiracy theory in their minds, NBD. What it could do is get people that might not have wanted to vote at all out the door to vote for Clinton (like maybe sane Republicans).

(27,787 posts)... insanity, so there is nothing that could bind them together more than they already are.
Sane people will see this alegation as more evidence to support the others who have come forward, proving his own comments in the earlier are true.
He's a sexual predator.

(10,902 posts)They may get him to 30-35%.
He needs to expand past that base. Generally, he hasn't, and I doubt this would do anything to help.

What will happen is another 10% of women voters will switch their votes to Hillary.

I could see a lot of women (and men) not being able to vote for him in the privacy of the voting booth, at least if they have a shred of compassion.

(108,978 posts)People like Paul Ryan won't be able to ignore the case anymore. People will have to take sides, and if this woman seems sincere, this will put the party into turmoil.
They won't be able to lightly dismiss a credible woman without enraging millions of others.

I actually think even worse of them, but don't need to post that thought.

(458 posts)It isn't a criminal investigation, so basically, many people might think it was just a gold-digger or something like that, in other words, that the person is lying to try and get money.
It would be a lot more potent if it was a criminal charge, rather than just some random lawsuit.
That is one reason I think the media doesn't seem too interested in it.
