2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHave to find a new Barber
I've been going to the same barber for years and have never had a problem with his unabashed support for everyone with an R behind their name but today was too much. He was never enthusiastic about Trump at all (no Trump signs at all and he has the sign of every Republican to run for President since Reagan on his walls)
I was waiting while he finished up with another customer and their conversation turned to how Hillary and Bill are Satan Worshipers and that Trump has to win or God will punish America. I couldn't believe my ears, here is someone that I've known for years and has never bought into any campaign's BS blathering about Wikileaks and Satan Worship.
I got up and left, I'll gladly find another Barber before I give that loon anymore of my money.
Vote in the ballot and vote with your wallets; I'm going to make a conscious effort to only shop Blue from here on out.

(8,421 posts)They have a listing of all donations to Rs and Ds from major stores, and if I rememeber correctly, it is divided by product class.
Sorry about your having to find a new barber, I'd do the same.

(413 posts)No use giving money to people who want to support someone like Trump

(8,421 posts)which is why I have never purchsed anything at Walmart. They are the biggest "anti-public school" people on the planet. I will not put a penny in their pockets.
I told the spouse that it also included their new Art Museum.

(413 posts)I have never enjoyed shopping at Walmart and the nearest one is about 30 minutes away (more depending on traffic)
After seeing the way they treat their employees I refuse to step foot in one, easiest boycott of my life

(35 posts)I myself prefer quick buzzcuts because I like low maintenance hair so I just do it myself, but for more complex jobs if you have a significant other or anyone else you just need some scissors and one of those cheap Conair kits and it is much cheaper.
Around here barbers still allow smoking and it's smokier than a bar in there. Been over a decade since I went to one.

The clippers came with 4 different sized...combs(?)
You just snap one on the clippers and cut hair to that length.

(53,339 posts)That's what people told me when I said I cut my own hair.
I get a professional cut once in a while, and in between I do my own trimming--with scissors.

(3,825 posts)Leaving a note and letting him know that you will be encouraging others of like mind to do the same thing. #grabyourwallet is having an effect on businesses that are supporting Trump by selling products with that name on them. This is how women are fighting back.

(138 posts)I disavowed a band I used to love as a kid when I saw their lead singer post "the best" Trump video ever. He and his minion of fans were stoically expressing how Trump's heart, though his words and actions were inappropriate and wrong, was really in the right place. My heart broke and I saw so many memories of my youth shattered in a single post. Suffice it to say that I un-followed his Facebook page, deleted his play lists, and loaded up some Nine Inch Nails to fill his place. I knew he was conservative, and like your barber, he had expressed reservations and even a little disdain regarding Trump. Unfortunately, there is obviously nothing so evil on this earth as a Democrat vying for the White House. Quite the deflating experience.

To them you're 100% correct
Until today I would have considered him one of the "reasonable Republicans" especially considering his previous disdain for Trump but I guess I was wrong. If an email that was stolen by Russia, edited and released right before the election can convince someone that Hillary is a Satan Worshiper then I guess that someone isn't very bright and certainly not reasonable.

(20,885 posts)and never looked back. My barber shop had closed and I tried a few different places, then saw this on sale. Every time I cut my hair, I save enough for a dinner out.

(34,582 posts)I found a new barber. He did a good job, and even used a straight razor on the neckline. This week when I went it, and he was wearing a short sleeve shirt. He has the Stars and Bars tattooed on his elbow. I guess I start going back to Super Cuts.

I gave up Hobby Lobby over birth control.
I avoid Hardee's because of those soft core porn commercials.
I quit Land's End over their caving to assholes about Gloria Steinem.
I avoid Koch company products....had to change paper towels and cleaning products.
Just reread this...I did use "asshole" more than once..sorry.

Politics should NEVER be bandied about loosely on the floor. That's not the job.

(16,975 posts)I mentioned that at least we had early voted, relieved because we probably wouldn't have been able to vote since Hubby's under the weather. But I wasn't being partisan.
I agree with you. We like to shop thrift and flea markets. If I hear the manager/owner talking about red politics, I leave. Keep your politics out of your business. If you do, maybe you'd have less financial headaches.

your barber must be a regular reader of that garbage.
He heard it on Fox News who got it from none other than Wikileaks
I could see people buying a story about Hillary being Atheist but this is so far over the top I honestly expected it to get laughed out of the headlines. We all thought it would be the "Jump the Shark" moment for Wikileaks but I guess Republicans will believe anything negative about Hillary.
All these stories about Trump are greeted with skepticism from almost all the Democrats I know. They won't believe them until there is more proof.
I guess that shows the main difference between Republicans and Democrats; they'll believe anything as long as it helps their narrative but Democrats have stronger minds and must be convinced that a story is True (hence most Republicans putting Religion over Science and most Democrats putting Science over Religion).
