GOP Sen. Coburn, whos considered the Republican expert on health care, because hes a doctor, just said that Medicare and Social Security are things we dont absolutely need. (Video below.) Coburn has had it out for Medicare for a while now.
Other things Coburn doesnt think we need include food safety, veterans benefits, and any kind of assistance to those who risked their lives responding to the September 11 attacks.
Ah yes, theres nothing quite like the words of a pampered and entitled US senator preaching about what we need or dont need, especially when it comes to Medicare and Social Security.
When you compare the government-subsidized healthcare plan, pension and benefits of anyone in Congress to the general population, its shocking how much better it is.

(2,670 posts)I am only 60, but I'm sure I'd be dead or much closer to death without SS and Medicare. We need to get this notion off the table permanently. I simply do not understand the opposition to programs that are universally lauded and necessary.

(15,220 posts)I need them. I've worked all my life and paid into the programs to be able to count on them. I don't understand why I should be made to feel bad for expecting them to be there for me!

They paid for it.
It belongs to them.
