Reported Trump national security adviser called for purging military to ensure Trumpist loyalty

Purging the military and intelligence community to be sure they’re 100 percent loyal to you personally is one of the steps on the road to dictatorship, no?

Meet Frank Gaffney, who is by multiple reports a national security adviser to Donald Trump’s transition team.

Gaffney was:

… a Pentagon official during the Reagan administration and a founder of the Center for Security Policy.

Mr. Gaffney has long advanced baseless conspiracy theories, including that President Obama might be a closet Muslim. The Southern Poverty Law Center described him as “one of America’s most notorious Islamophobes.”

to find enough bodies to fill those positions.

also, there are numerous legal and even constitutional protections for career civil servants. They can't be so easily rooted out.

Since the FBI clearly worked to help Trump get elected. The military has been in the tank for the Republican Party for years, ever since this "Professional Soldier" thing replaced our citizen soldier armed forces.

my thought of future Fuhrer calling for martial law either on the day or day after inauguration. I am feeling less and less silly calling that possibility.

Already he has crowds demonstrating outside his residence. I think that his swearing in ceremony with be the scene of a massive crowd of protesters. I have a feeling it will not be a pretty sight.

Put the Generals in charge that support Trump. Do not promote Democratic Party leaning officers.

he had all soldiers in the Wermacht (and presumably the members of the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe) swear an oath to the person of Adolf Hitler. In Europe that is a bit more of a thing than here, I think.

Not sure if verified, but stories were flying that it was a thing in the Bush admin too.

I understand the difference. Perhaps you do not? Military personnel are not bound to obey illegal or unconstitutional orders. It's a difficult thing to do and fight, but it is true. The Oath is to the Constitution.

a few months ago:

NEW YORK (AP) — Leveling unusually harsh criticism against the military, Republican Donald Trump said Wednesday night that America's generals have been "reduced to rubble" under President Barack Obama and suggested he would fire some of them if he wins the presidency in November.

Hitler forced the German military to pledge their allegiance to him personally.

Not the country or some constitution or set of laws but him personally.
