Purging the military and intelligence community to be sure theyre 100 percent loyal to you personally is one of the steps on the road to dictatorship, no?Meet Frank Gaffney, who is by multiple reports a national security adviser to Donald Trumps transition team.
Gaffney was:
a Pentagon official during the Reagan administration and a founder of the Center for Security Policy.
Mr. Gaffney has long advanced baseless conspiracy theories, including that President Obama might be a closet Muslim. The Southern Poverty Law Center described him as one of Americas most notorious Islamophobes.

(58,706 posts)he had all soldiers in the Wermacht (and presumably the members of the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe) swear an oath to the person of Adolf Hitler. In Europe that is a bit more of a thing than here, I think.
Not sure if verified, but stories were flying that it was a thing in the Bush admin too.

(58,706 posts)I understand the difference. Perhaps you do not? Military personnel are not bound to obey illegal or unconstitutional orders. It's a difficult thing to do and fight, but it is true. The Oath is to the Constitution.

Not the country or some constitution or set of laws but him personally.
