Ann Romney Never Worked A Day In Her Life, Misogynist TweeterWe have two new low points in the 2012 election coming from the Left and the Right. Luckily, you have us keeping our heads on a swivel for the American people. But before getting started, let’s get the usual disclaimer out there that we understand not everyone on the Right agrees with their douchebag nor do we believe everyone on the Left is heartless. Shall we proceed?

1. This one is backfiring big time

its uniting the 'republican stay at home' moms who feel they are being belittled.

16. Who gives a damn--those women were already voting Romney anyway.
|
It doesn't undo the years of anti-women policies the right has pushed at the state and federal level.

2. I can understand why it might be bad politics.
|
But I don't get "misogynist" (particularly since it was said by Hillary Rosen), and it's arguably true.
Being a stay at home parent is comparatively easy when you have three houses, three cadillacs and four housekeepers. |

|
very real "this person cannot relate to the real world" point that is being made (by a woman who is by no means a misogynist).
Stay at home mothers "work." No one questions that, particularly when the kid(s) are screaming and the diapers are piled high and the doctor's appointments need keeping, the groceries need buying, the abode needs cleaning, the meals need cooking. That's real work, and not a lot of fun, either. They simply don't get a paycheck that they can cash each week--they are relying on a spouse or partner to hold up that side of the equation. Rich people with housekeeping staffs don't work--they drive one of their Caddys to one of their barns and ride one of their horses. Yeah, like Porgie used to say, "That's hard work!" That's the very sharp point of that tweet. |

you offered. Otherwise, leave it out there.
I think the only people who don't "get" her actual point are the ones who are being deliberately obtuse. They aren't voting for Obama anyway. |

and the Obama campaign was right IMHO to get out in front and condemn it. I don't believe that Rosen is part of the Obama campaign, however.

5. It was incredibly stupid
|
She could have said Ann Romney has no idea what it's like to not know how you're going to pay your rent/mortgage or feed your children or get them to college because that is certainly true enough. But to crap on stay at home moms is shooting herself and the left in the foot and she should apologize publicly and immediately.

|
Obama's people did the "We don't associate ourselves with those remarks" to keep their distance, but the essence of the matter is out there. She's stinking rich. She cannot relate to ordinary people. Points made and taken.
The snarker in the OP who said that chasing five kids through luxurious mansions to get them out the door to school was "hard work" was also banging the nail in. On to the next topic. Rosen did a good job of playing the sacrificial lamb on that one! That bell will not be unrung. |

This is classic Rovian games. You attack an opponent's strength or your weekness and hope they bite back...then when they do, pour the outrage.
While many of us on this side of the sandbox find Mittens putting his wife up front more like hiding behind her skirt, Ms. Rosen should have been more nuanced. She could have done a little reasearch (if oppo research hasn't been done on this already) to find out how many "domestics" the Rmoney's employ rather than go after the "stay at home" mom angle...the rushpublicans were ready to pounce and they did. Millard can't hide behind his skirt...but this gives him temporary shelter... |

The gender gap is such a winning issue for us...to have it derailed by a stupid comment pisses me off. Pointing out how neither of the Romney's have any idea what it's like to worry about money is the only time his wife should even be mentioned.

Just because something is true, you don't say it if your opponents can spin it negatively. And of course they were going to spin this as an attack on stay-at-home parents.
