Apparently, the conservative PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE to Grover Norquist and his anti tax-increase policy, has an exception involving REGRESSIVE taxes that hit the middle class and the poor the hardest.

Chances are good that the Republican Congress will approve a tax on Internet sales.

This represents a HUGE tax increase on the working poor who buy things online because they can't afford cars, and can't drive to the shopping center.

Didn't we learn in Economics class that sales taxes were needed for roads leading to shopping centers, and for related services? How is this relevant to Internet sales?

Looks like the super-rich, who are the only real beneficiaries of Republican policies, approve of tax increases as long as they can escape paying their fair share.

1. Republicans only support tax increases on the poor and working Americans.

But none on the wealthy and corporations.

In essence, the Republican Party would love to siphon what little the working American makes to enrich the already obscenely rich in this country, just like the good ol' plantation and slave days.

2. Actually, I like the internet taxes.

This way, people will be more likely to buy things from the brick and mortar stores.

Brick and mortar stores hire more people than do online stores, which means more jobs.

3. While I don't necessarily agree with internet taxes....

roads are still needed to get the item to your door.

4. I can't agree until I see some data that shows the amount of taxes collected from the poor would be

disproportionate to those from the wealthy. Also remember, there is an exemption for companies who do less than one million dollars in internet business. It starts as a small business victory. Also, we have to remember that the poor are less likely to have a computer, internet and credit card. I'm for it. This isn't a new tax, it was just a failure to collect a tax for a number of years. I wonder how much the lack of revenue all these years has harmed the poor?
