Nancy Pelosi is praying for Hillary Clinton to run for the White House in 2016, the former House Speaker said on Friday in an early heavyweight endorsement for the recently retired secretary of state.
The House minority leader was speaking in Little Rock, Arkansas, ahead of a ceremony to mark the renaming of the Little Rock airport as the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport.
"I pray that Hillary Clinton decides to run for president of the United States," the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Pelosi telling a public event. Pelosi, a long-time champion of women's rights, described Clinton as the best qualified of the potential candidates in recent years.
Clinton, who retired earlier this year as secretary of state, has not yet said whether she intends to run in 2016 but all the signs indicate that she will, barring an unforeseen event such as a health scare. The 65-year-old was hospitalised last year, for treatment to remove a blood clot.

(40,416 posts)I don't want anybody to run for president right now. And all this Hillary 2016, Elizabeth 2016, O'Malley 2016, Biden 2016, Hivenheimer 2016, etc. talk is useless and meaningless bloviation.
It's 3 1/2 years until the fucking election and we just finished one. Give it a fucking rest already. Let us all catch our breaths before we have to again dive into the deep end of the pool for next year's mid-terms.
That's why we have national elections every other year. So people can catch their breath once in a while.
So stop ringing the cockamaimie 2016 election bells!!!

(40,416 posts)There are no candidates, so there are no campaigns. And those starting now for 2014 are mostly doing so sotto voce. So, although you may be technically correct, you are incorrect in practice.
Only in the USA does electioneering become a permanent state of affairs. It is what is killing this country. The extent to which people support such a ridiculous scenario is the extent to which they have fallen into a delusional dream world manufactured by media businesses and opposition parties who are more than happy to exploit the never ending political warfare.
Did I say that only the US does it this way?
Please don't be duped.
