PEMA LEVY 10:04 AM EDT, SUNDAY MAY 5, 2013
Six months before the Virginia gubernatorial election, Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is leading Democrat Terry McAuliffe, according to a Washington Post poll released Sunday.
Cuccinelli leads 46 percent to 41 percent among Virginia voters. A lead which grows to 51 percent to 41 percent among voters who say they will vote in November.
The poll also found that Virginians have yet to start paying attention to the race, with just 10 percent saying they are following it very closely.
Conducted April 29-May 2, the poll surveyed 887 registered voters in Virginia and has a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

(28,394 posts)Cuccinelli is so vile that a reasonable democrat should be able to beat him.
Fortunately, it is still early and Cooch has more time to f*ck up.

(32 posts)Any reasonable democrat without the McAuliffe baggage and his complete lack of charisma would be crushing the kook - worst possible candidate we could have picked
why on earth is he the candidate??

Both terrible candidates.
Prediction? Same outcome in an election where a goat in a hat could beat Cuccinelli's dumb ass.

(20,450 posts)My feeling is that despite being under investigation by the FBI and all the horrible bills that he championed targeting women's reproductive rights, if he's STILL popular, then I give up on Virginia. My friends and I worked our asses off in 2008, 2010 midterms, and again in 2012. I simply cannot understand the mindset. The only thing I can think of is the fact the economy is doing well in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia region. The D.C. area didn't suffer as much as the rest of the country due to military and government jobs. Governor O'Malley has also benefited.
