RNC selects Facebook engineer as chief technology officer

"The Republican National Committee tapped a 32-year-old engineer with experience at Facebook and Google as its chief technology officer, a key hire in the party’s efforts to catch up technologically with the Democrats after being embarrassed in the 2012 election cycle."
"Barkett’s résumé, according to the RNC, includes overseeing dozens of engineers on six production teams at Facebook and having responsibility over “thousands of servers and scaling systems in mobile infrastructure, messaging, advertisements, newsfeeds, platforms and payments.” Before that, he was senior director at Livescribe and a technical program manager for Google.

“It’s essential that the Republican Party has the resources to drive voter turnout as we look toward the elections of 2014, 2016 and beyond,” Barkett said in the RNC’s statement. “Silicon Valley welcomes the party’s efforts to be more creative and innovative, and I look forward to helping the party accomplish these goals.”

A Facebook spokesperson declined to comment."

I don't think the companies in Silicon Valley consider Barkett to be their spokesperson.

are sadly misinformed. They are a party without people, esp. when the teabaggers get all steamed and don't vote.
