King Says Cruz Conservatives Want to 'Hijack' GOP

WASHINGTON October 2, 2013 (AP)

Rep. Peter King is charging that tea party-backed members of the House Republican Caucus are trying to "hijack the party."

The New York Republican says he senses that increasing numbers of House Republicans — perhaps as many as a hundred — are growing weary of "the Ted Cruz wing of the party."

King, who calls himself a "blue-collar conservative," tells MSNBC there are meetings among Republican lawmakers Wednesday with the aim of resolving the stalemate that has forced a partial government shutdown, saying many rank and file Republicans are "tired of this policy."

He also chided President Barack Obama for standing down from the fight, saying he couldn't imagine presidents like Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan adopting such a stance during a governmental crisis.

The Tea-haddists are already in the GOP cockpit and are looking to crash the Republican plane shortly.

Have a nice flight!

If the GOP wanted to stop them they easily could by not voting with them.

But the rest of the House GOP are such wimps, and are so afraid of being primaries they all vote just like "Speaker Cruz" tells them.

name for a republican. Boehner is the best example. In the last two weeks he sounded no different than Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry or Louie Gohmert.

"I got it from here bud"

Speaker Boehner's refusal to stand up against the worst elements of his own party means he's effectively put Ted Cruz in the Speaker's chair.

First: they are not conservative any more than they are reptiles (the resemblance is purely coincidental).

Second, they do not "want to hijack the GOP." That is a done deal. They ARE the GOP.

Guys like Peter King are tolerated as relics that are allowed to hang on because it enhances their numbers until they can primary him out and replace him with a crazy that is more in tune with their fanaticism.

15. King is wrong on FDR and Obama

FDR absolutely did act this way and he spoke this way too:

“We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace--business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.

“They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

“Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me -- and I welcome their hatred.”

President Obama is not standing down from the fight. He has made clear that he is not backing down from the ACA - and that he is not going to go beg them to play nice. It's their job - its not play time.

If we give an inch on ACA - we will never get to single payer.
