Schumer To Boehner: Prove That A Clean CR Won't Pass

SAHIL KAPUR – OCTOBER 6, 2013, 11:09 AM EDT

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) challenged Speaker John Boehner's (R-OH) contention Sunday that "there are not the votes in the House to pass a clean CR" and reopen the government.

"Well, first, the speaker said there aren't the votes on the floor to re-open the government. Let me issue him a friendly challenge. Put it on the floor Monday or Tuesday. I would bet there are the votes to pass it," Schumer said on ABC's "This Week" appearing just after Boehner. "We have just about every Democrat, 21 Republicans have publicly said they would. There are many more Republicans who have said that they privately would."

"So, Speaker Boehner, just vote. Put it on the floor and let's see if you're right."

White House spokesman Jay Carney issued a similar challenge on Twitter:

The GOPers who may vote for it in principal, are being threatened by the crazies. If they do, and their vote's on record, they'll be targeted and primaried by teabaggers and lose their seats.

Successfully, to their base. They're counting not on low information voters, but high-disinformation voters.

100% of dittoheads, freepers, t-bags, and 40% of the population of every red state, will believe that this is Obama's fault as long as any Republican on TV says that it is Obama's fault.

Boehner can't bring the CR to the floor for a vote.
If he did, it would become obvious which party is
in favor of "shutting down" the government.

Repukes will lose 20 next year.

More and more people are getting pissed--including repuke voters. At least from some stories posted here, it appears that way. So the longer this stays in the news, repukes approval numbers sink to below zero--

Not looking good for bonerhead.
